Americans deserve to know how these actions impact their privacy and data security, as well as what actions TikTok is taking to keep our kids safe from online and offline harms,\u201d Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee (R-WA), stated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/energycommerce.house.gov\/posts\/tik-tok-ceo-to-testify-at-energy-and-commerce-committee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statement<\/a> Announcement of the March 23 hearing. \u201cWe\u2019ve made our concerns clear with TikTok. It is now time to continue the committee\u2019s efforts to hold Big Tech accountable by bringing TikTok before the committee to provide complete and honest answers for people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TikTok, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/tiktok-was-most-visited-site-in-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unsurpassed<\/a> Google, along with other competitors, became the most visited website on the planet two years ago. Officials such as FBI Director Christopher Wray have noted the platform\u2019s capacity to manipulate content, initiate influence operations, and collect user data for traditional espionage operations. A number of states, including North Dakota and Alabama, have previously banned the platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTikTok is a Trojan Horse for the Chinese Communist Party,\u201d Senator Josh Hawley (R.MO), who sponsored the federal legislation, stated in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawley.senate.gov\/hawley-bill-ban-tiktok-government-devices-passes-senate-unanimously\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Statement<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s a major security risk to the United States, and until it is forced to sever ties with China completely, it has no place on government devices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ByteDance has been controversial because it plans to track the locations of specific American citizens. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/tiktoks-parent-company-in-china-planned-to-use-platform-to-track-locations-of-specific-americans-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Report<\/a> Forbes.
