The 26-year old officer joined the force in 2018. He allegedly used his Taser on Nichols before being beaten by five officers.<\/p>\n<p>Preston, a white man, has not been charged in connection with the incident. However, Memphis police have said that he is currently being investigated.<\/p>\n<p>Demetrius Haley and Tadarrius Bean are also black officers. Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr., Justin Smith, and Emmitt Martin Jr. are the others. The video shows five officers hitting Nichols with batons, punching, kicking and striking him with their batons while he lay prone on January 7. Three days later, he succumbed to his injuries in hospital.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/tyre-nichols-al-sharpton-condemns-violent-protesters-helping-police-times-square-arrests\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>TYRE NICHOLS : AL SHARPTON CONDEMNS VOLENT PROTESTERS \u2018HELPING THE POLICE\u2019 AFTER TIMES SQUARE ARTICLE ARRESTS<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cerelyn, the Police Chief, was also fired. &#8220;CJ&#8221; Davis also disbanded permanently the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/tyre-nichols-death-memphis-police-permanently-deactivate-scorpion-unit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Scorpion unit in the city<\/u><\/a> Saturday. The five officers were part of the Unit, and they were focused on street crime prevention and punishment.<\/p>\n<p>Nichols&#8217; beating and murder has sparked outrage in the country.
