He is the son and former governor of New Hampshire John H. Sununu. Sununu is also the younger brother and former senator John E. Sununu. He\u00a0spoke on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union\u201d Dana Bash, who pointed out a University of New Hampshire. <a href=\"https:\/\/scholars.unh.edu\/survey_center_polls\/727\/\">Poll<\/a> This showed that Trump was leading DeSantis by 42% to 30% among likely Republican voter.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cObviously, DeSantis and Trump are the two candidates \u2026 whether he\u2019s (DeSantis) declared or not,\u201d Sununu said, \u201cHe has hundreds of millions of dollars\u2026 obviously, Ron DeSantis is looking to run for president, which is fine. And he would probably win New Hampshire right now, without a doubt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bash pointed out that Trump won the state\u2019s primary in 2016, prompting Sununu to respond, \u201cCould he do that again? Oh, he could. I don\u2019t think he will. He could.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sununu stated that a speech Trump gave Saturday in New Hampshire was viewed as \u201cvery mundane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe response we have received is, he read his teleprompter, he stuck to the talking points, he went away,\u201d Sununu stated.\u00a0\u201cSo he\u2019s not really bringing that fire, that energy, I think, that a lot of folks saw it in \u201916. I think, in many ways, it was a little disappointing to some folks. And even he acknowledged it wasn\u2019t his best. He came to a predetermined crowd, not one of his big rallies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sununu reports that Granite State voters put candidates through the paces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if you\u2019re the former president, you got to come and earn it person to person,\u201d Sununu stated.<\/p>\n<p>Sununu acknowledged that he is thinking about running for the presidential nominating office, and then spoke of the New Hampshire vote. \u201cI\u2019m surprised I\u2019m on that poll at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sununu also warned against the idea of a 2016-type scenario in which multiple candidates vied for the nomination, saying candidates who don\u2019t poll well early need to get out of the way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t want a crowded field here,\u201d He stated.\u00a0\u201cMake a good run at it, but if it ain\u2019t happening, you got to pull out and leave it down to the two, three or four candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, whose state will be the first in the nation to hold a GOP primary after the Iowa caucuses begin the 2024 run for the presidency, said that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would win the primary if it were held now.
