The New England Journal of Medicine published a study that should have devastating consequences for the transgender narrative. However, trans activists and their allies continue to work towards redefining reality. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Esqueer_\/status\/1616462370687033356\">spin<\/a> It was a huge success.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa2206297\">Study<\/a>The blandly named \u201cPsychosocial Functioning in Transgender Youth after 2 Years of Hormones,\u201d Two subjects of 315 committed suicide. This is not good news for self-harm prevention treatment. The study also showed no improvement in males. \u201cdepression and anxiety scores\u201d Or \u201cscores for life satisfaction.\u201d Young men who identify themselves as transgender do not benefit from female hormones.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers claimed that testosterone treatment could lead to mental health improvements in young women. Even if the claims were true, there was data jigging. Minor changes in psychological health are not worth taking cross-sex hormones. Therapy is a better alternative. The research supports what many detransitioners have reported about the initial energizing, if not euphoric, effects that testosterone can have on their bodies.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the suicides and null results for males and questionable (at the best) results for female subjects, researchers reported their findings like positive results that support giving wrong-sex hormones to children. The corporate media loved this spin. NBC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/nbc-out\/out-health-and-wellness\/hormone-therapy-improves-mental-health-transgender-youths-new-study-fi-rcna66306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reporting<\/a> The story emphasized the positive effects of adolescent transformation, and did not mention the suicides or the lack of improvement in male participants. ABC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Health\/gender-affirming-care-trans-youth-improves-mental-health\/story?id=96510337\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">write-up<\/a> didn\u2019t even bother with that minimal honesty and ignored the bad outcomes entirely.<\/p>\n<p>This study will be used as scientific evidence to support the benefits of transitioning children even though it does not prove anything. Cross-sex hormones are not effective in preventing suicide, do not help young men with gender dysphoria and provide little mental support for young women who don&#8217;t want to be young girls anymore. The last point will receive all the attention and will be magnified beyond what the data show.<\/p>\n<p>Activists who wish to transform children understand that not many people will care about the details of the study. They also know that they have largely compromised the medical-scientific establishment and are being cowed. It is rare for doctors and researchers to stand up to the trans movement or its powerful allies.
