They are currently being investigated for their involvement in Tyre Nichols&#8217; death.<\/p>\n<p>The Memphis Police Department fired and criminally charged five police officers over Nichols\u2019 death earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>The Shelby County Sheriff\u2019s Office opened an investigation into\u00a0two of its deputies after body camera footage was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/body-cam-footage-released-showing-incident-between-police-and-tyre-nichols\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Published<\/a> Friday evening that showed the incident that led to Nichols\u2019 death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving watched the videotape for the first time tonight, I have concerns about two deputies who appeared on the scene following the physical confrontation between police and Tyre Nichols,\u201d Floyd Bonner, Jr. Shelby County Sheriff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/tennessee-sheriff-opens-new-investigation-two-deputies-tyre-nichols-bodycam-video-release\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a>.\u00a0\u201cI have launched an internal investigation into the conduct of these deputies to determine what occurred and if any policies were violated. Both of these deputies have been relieved of duty pending the outcome of this administrative investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The names of these two deputy were not released.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy heartfelt condolences are expressed to the family and friends of Tyre Nichols,\u201d Bonner also added. \u201cI am sad and angry about his tragic death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nichols was killed on January 10, just three days after Memphis police arrested him. \u201creckless driving\u201d Near Raines Road and Ross Road, Memphis.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, during the stop, \u201cconfrontation occurred,\u201d At that point, Nichols fled police on foot while they tried to apprehend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile attempting to take the suspect into custody, another confrontation occurred; however, the suspect was ultimately apprehended,\u201d MPD. \u201cAfterward the suspect complained of having shortness of breath, at which point an ambulance was called to the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Two counts of official misconduct have been filed against officers Tadarrius Bean and Demetrius Haley and Emmit Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith, according to local media reports. One count each of official oppression and second-degree murder, aggravated attack-act in concert and two counts each of aggravated kidnapping.<\/p>\n<p>Nichols\u2019 mother, RowVaughn Wells, told CNN on Friday that those who protest her son\u2019s death should not riot because that it is not want her son would have wanted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want us burning up our cities, tearing up the streets, because that\u2019s not what my son stood for,\u201d Wells said. \u201cAnd if you guys are here for me and Tyre, then you will protest peacefully.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two more law enforcement officers have been placed on administrative leave and are now under investigation over their alleged involvement in the death of Tyre Nichols.
