Unfortunately, I couldn\u2019t win in this situation, so I had to concede on some of these things\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI learned from this bitter experience though,\u201d The director confirmed. \u201cFor subsequent projects, I became smarter at handling people who wanted to interfere. In that, I would send back very small corrections or adjustments just before the deadline. Animation<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cIn Japan, you sometimes get producers that are similar to American ones,\u201d Watanabe said. \u201cYou also sometimes find good producers in America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe original producer on <em>The Animatrix<\/em> was a really good guy,\u201d He noted. \u201cHe understood my work and didn\u2019t give me stupid requests. It was very frustrating and if these requests were coming from the Wachowskis, I would at least respect that as they came up with <em>The Matrix<\/em>. So who was the new producer compared to that? He explained that he was the gatekeeper to the Wachowskis and unless he could be convinced, he wouldn\u2019t bring my work to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Watanabe stated that he would handle this situation by saying, \u201cwhen I went to Los Angeles for the recording sessions, I told the team that if I saw that producer I would just punch him in the face.
