CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/01\/17\/us\/athena-brownfield-ivon-adams-caretaker-beat-death-affidavit\/index.html\">reported<\/a>. Ivon Adams and his wife Alysia were arrested days later and charged in Brownfield\u2019s disappearance. He is accused of killing Brownfield and then burying Brownfield near his home. Alysia has pleaded guilty to two counts felony child neglect. She is charged with \u201cfailing to protect (Athena) from physical abuse\u201d From her husband, a charging letter said.<\/p>\n<p>Alysia admitted to authorities, on 12 January, that Ivon beat Brownfield multiple time Christmas night. This ultimately led to her suicide.<\/p>\n<p>Alysia detailed the brutal details of her husband\u2019s alleged murder, saying that after he beat Brownfield, he \u201cheld her up by her arms\u201d She was indeed there \u201cnot moving and her eyes were barely open,\u201d According to the arrest affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>Ivon allegedly then \u201claid her on the ground and punched her at least three more times in the chest.\u201d After the beating, Brownfield stopped moving.<\/p>\n<p>Then, he allegedly \u201cburied her near a fence line\u201d According to court documents, the couple lived outside their former house in Rush Springs. Alysia told police that Ivon had taken a photograph of her. \u201clarge broken branch\u201d Over the spot where he had buried the little girl.<\/p>\n<p>Ivon was taken into custody in Arizona. He was then extradited to Oklahoma where he is now in prison.<\/p>\n<p>On January 17, 2017, the OSBI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OSBI.OK\/posts\/pfbid0232hmWocnfWh3o1nrADxmYJ4TJaF9sCk1sjMe6XPftb8Y5Zvbf7HUsi1VNpEbP9ghl\">announced<\/a> It was. \u201crecovered the remains of a child in rural Grady County outside of Rush Springs.\u201d At the time, the bureau couldn\u2019t confirm the remains were those of Brownfield, but said they had been taken to the medical examiner\u2019s office in Oklahoma City for identification.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents revealed that the Adams had been caring for Brownfield and her older sister for the past two years, after the children\u2019s biological mother left them in their care for unknown reasons.
