He ultimately lost both feet, part of one leg, the use of one hand, and the vision in one eye \u2014 but during Thursday\u2019s interview, he revealed what had pushed him to survive, to make it home, and to get back to broadcasting.<\/p>\n<p>Hall thanked everyone who had sent him kind words and prayers. He said that the key to his recovery was easy: \u201cI think that when you\u2019ve gone through something like I\u2019ve gone through, the highs, the lows, you have to have a target, you have to get something to fight for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He detailed the first moments of the blast immediately after it had ended, and then he went on to detail everything else. \u201cgone dark,\u201d By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/fox-news-benjamin-hall-urges-viewers-never-give-emotional-return-live-tv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reading an excerpt<\/a> From his memoir: \u201cSaved: A War Reporter\u2019s Mission To Make It Home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>If I had the slightest iota of consciousness, it was a distant sense of shock waves and the feeling that every part of my body \u2014 bones, organs, sinew, my soul \u2014 had been knocked out of me. I was all but dead but improbably, out of this crippling nothingness, a figure came through, and I heard a familiar voice, as real as anything I\u2019d ever known. \u201cDaddy, you\u2019ve got to get out of the car.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Hall said that in that moment, he saw his daughters \u2014 and he crawled out of the car. Another shell hit the car just as Hall was getting out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey brought me back, and I found the strength. I opened my eyes and managed to crawl out of the car. And then the third bomb hit the car itself. If it weren\u2019t for them bringing me back, there is no way I would be here today,\u201d He said.<\/p>\n<p>Hall then revealed that the cameraman, Zakrzewski, had also gotten out of the car \u2014 and the two of them talked as they waited and hoped that help would arrive. \u201cThe two of us laid there for about 40 minutes, and talked, he passed away,\u201d Hall said.<\/p>\n<p>Hall explained how Hall&#8217;s explanations were made in the weeks, months, and days that followed. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/the-stuff-of-movies-fox-news-pentagon-reporter-worked-behind-the-scenes-to-get-gravely-wounded-colleague-out-of-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">risky civilian operation<\/a> that got him out of Ukraine \u2014 and credited the military hospitals at Landstuhl Air Force Base in Germany and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, for rebuilding him in both body and mind.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fox News foreign correspondent Benjamin Hall revealed what saved his life in his first on-air interview since a bomb blast outside of Kyiv, Ukraine, killed two of his colleagues and nearly claimed his life as well.
