Twitter, which suspended Trump in the aftermath of the Capitol riot, recently reinstated Trump. But, the former president prefers to communicate through Truth Social.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are bringing Mr. Trump back in the coming weeks with certain guardrails, applicable to any public figures <a href=\"https:\/\/transparency.fb.com\/enforcement\/taking-action\/restricting-accounts-by-public-figures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/transparency.fb.com\/enforcement\/taking-action\/restricting-accounts-by-public-figures&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1674771703056000&#038;usg=AOvVaw1TP3TPcoFxOWAhmRMTfCQ9\">suspended for certain violations<\/a> during times of civil unrest,\u201d Meta has a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The company claimed that it didn&#8217;t want to interfere in the election debate and that its 2021 decision was approved by an oversight committee. In lifting the suspension,\u00a0Meta said that based on Trump\u2019s past behavior on the platform, h<span data-reader-unique-id=\"28\">E now faces \u201cheightened penalties for repeat offenses \u2013 penalties which will apply to other public figures whose accounts are reinstated from suspensions related to civil unrest under our <span data-reader-unique-id=\"30\">updated protocol<span data-reader-unique-id=\"31\">.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe penalties and potential restrictions we\u2019ve put in place are a deterrent,\u201d the statement read, warning that Trump could face another suspension ranging from one month to two years if he violates the company\u2019s rules.<\/p>\n<p>According to the company, Trump had spoken out against violent rioters at Capitol, resulting in his suspension from office for an indefinite period. This was effective after January 6. \u201cthe risks of allowing President Trump to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great.\u201d Trump denied encouraging or praising rioters and took to Twitter to encourage his followers to disperse as the riot was unfolding.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter and Facebook were both criticised for suspending Trump while allowing a number of world leaders with human rights violations histories to continue their presence.<\/p>\n<p>Trump responded to Truth Social&#8217;s suspension being lifted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch a thing should never again happen to a sitting president or anybody else who is not deserving of retribution,\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n<p data-reader-unique-id=\"10\">Meta said its updated protocol specifically addresses content that does not technically violate the platform\u2019s policies, but that \u201cc<span data-reader-unique-id=\"33\">ontributes to the sort of risk that materialized on January 6th, such as content that delegitimizes an upcoming election or is related to QAnon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-reader-unique-id=\"10\"><span data-reader-unique-id=\"33\">\u201cWe may limit the distribution of such posts, and for repeated instances, may temporarily restrict access to our advertising tools,\u201d The company stated. \u201cThis step would mean that content would remain visible on Mr. Trump\u2019s account but would not be distributed in people\u2019s Feeds, even if they follow Mr. Trump. We may also remove the reshare button from such posts, and may stop them being recommended or run as ads.
