internship were <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/desperate-to-discriminate-elite-schools-search-for-new-ways-to-diversify-as-scotus-decision-on-affirmative-action-looms\/\">discriminatory<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The program is currently available only to members <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/lori-lightfoot-defends-decision-to-discriminate-against-white-reporters-says-she-would-absolutely-do-it-again\">certain races<\/a>Candidates are required to upload a photo of their self.<\/p>\n<p>The DOE&#8217;s Office for Civil Rights (which is responsible for the enforcement of the Civil Rights Act of 64) made the decision to publish this statement on January 19. <a href=\"https:\/\/donoharmmedicine.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Loyola-investigation-05-22-2352_January-19_2023-1.pdf\">investigate<\/a> In response to a <a href=\"https:\/\/donoharmmedicine.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Loyola-Stritch-SOM-Diversity-in-Surgery-OCR-filing-LM-08.252022.pdf\">complaint<\/a> Do No Harm (DNH), a medical watchdog, filed the complaint in August last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Laura Morgan, DNH Program Manager, stated that the requirement was unnecessary &#8220;illegally discriminated against on the basis of their race, color, and national origin,&#8221; It was therefore a clear violation Title VI.<\/p>\n<p>You can find their website here <a href=\"https:\/\/ssom.luc.edu\/surgery\/about\/diversityequityinclusion\/diversityinsurgeryvisitingsub-internshipprogram\/\">Loyola<\/a> The internship claims &#8220;is intended to encourage medical students from racial and ethnic groups that are underrepresented in medicine to consider pursuing a career in academic surgery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Only those who identify themselves as &#8220;African American\/Black, Hispanic\/Latinx, American Indian\/Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian\/Pacific Islander.&#8221; White students and Asians are notable absentees from this list.<\/p>\n<p>Interview with the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2023\/01\/23\/university-photo-applicants-diversity-surgery-internship\/\">Daily Caller<\/a>Mark Perry, a senior fellow at DNH and University of Michigan professor, argued that Loyola\u2019s actions shouldn\u2019t be seen in isolation. &#8220;representative of the illegal discrimination taking place at almost every US medical school on the basis of race, color, or national origin.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is just one more disappointing example of dozens of medical schools either being cluelessly unaware that this type of discrimination is illegal or they are instead inexcusably unconcerned about violating the civil rights of certain groups of students.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He said that DNH had discovered discrimination at nearly every US medical school.
