Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and her multimillionaire husband sold up to $3 million in shares of Google in recent weeks\u2014just before the Biden Justice Department launched an antitrust probe of the tech giant.<\/p>\n<p>According to, Paul Pelosi has sold 30,000 Google shares between Dec. 20th and Dec. 28, 2012. <a href=\"https:\/\/disclosures-clerk.house.gov\/public_disc\/ptr-pdfs\/2023\/20022260.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a financial disclosure filing<\/a> The House Ethics Committee received the submission from the former House Speaker. According to the filing, Pelosi made an undisclosed gain from the investments.<\/p>\n<p>The trade came about at a perfect time. On Monday, the Justice Department and attorneys general from eight states\u2014including California\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-sues-google-monopolizing-digital-advertising-technologies#:~:text=In%202020%2C%20the%20Justice%20Department,for%20trial%20in%20September%202023.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sued<\/a> Google over their monopoly in the digital advertising market. Google could be forced to sell its online advertising business. It generated $55 billion in revenue in the last quarter. Google stock dropped by 6 percent after the Justice Department filed the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>These trades are just the latest in a series of questionable transactions for Nancy and Paul.<\/p>\n<p>They <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/pelosi-saves-hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars-through-another-timely-stock-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saved<\/a> In June, Nvidia shares were sold to raise $600,000. This was weeks before the U.S. placed restrictions on Nvidia&#8217;s operations in China and Russia. According to a report, the stock trades of Paul Pelosi have helped the Pelosis&#8217; fortune increase by $140 million over 2008 thanks to their wealth. <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/the-stock-market-made-nancy-pelosi-rich-now-she-wants-to-ban-her-colleagues-from-trading\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analysis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi\u2019s stock market manipulations have attracted calls for tighter regulation of Congress members who cash in on their positions.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Josh Hawley (R., Mo.) Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawley.senate.gov\/hawley-announces-pelosi-act-reintroduction-bill-ban-lawmakers-trading-stocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">introduced<\/a> the Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments Act\u2014the PELOSI Act\u2014to prohibit members of Congress and their spouses from owning or trading individual stocks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For too long, politicians in Washington have taken advantage of the economic system they write the rules for, turning profits for themselves at the expense of the American people,&#8221; Hawley stated. &#8220;As members of Congress, both Senators and Representatives are tasked with providing oversight of the same companies they invest in, yet they continually buy and sell stocks, outperforming the market time and again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi\u2019s office did not return a request for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
