He never did anything knowingly dishonest in his life. Leave him alone!!!\u201d Trump wrote on his Truth Social Account on January 24,<\/p>\n<p>Pence\u2019s lawyer, Greg Jacob, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/classified-documents-discovered-at-home-of-former-vice-president-mike-pence_5007088.html\">told<\/a> In a Jan. 18 mail, the National Archives and Records Administration stated that they had received a request from the a \u201csmall number of documents\u201d marked classified were found at Pence\u2019s Indiana home two days earlier. These documents were \u201cinadvertently boxed and transported\u201d to the former vice president\u2019s home at the end of the Trump\u2013Pence administration.<\/p>\n<p>Jacob said that Pence hired outside counsel to review documents stored at his home. Jacob added that classified documents were also discovered. \u201cimmediately secured\u201d Keep it in a safe place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVice President understands the high importance of protecting sensitive and classified information and stands ready and willing to cooperate fully with the National Archives and any appropriate inquiry,\u201d Jacob wrote.<\/p>\n<p>FBI agents visited Pence\u2019s residence on Jan. 19 and collected the documents that had been secured, according to Jacob. (Brandon Bell\/Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<p>The discovery of classified documents at Pence\u2019s home came on the heel of investigations by the Department of Justice over classified documents found in President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-joe-biden\">Joe Biden<\/a>\u2019s Delaware home and his former office space in Washington, as well as in Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did not comment on Tuesday when a reporter asked if the White House had any reaction to Pence\u2019s documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not going to comment on any ongoing criminal investigation or any investigation,\u201d She <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2023\/01\/24\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-karine-jean-pierre-12\/\">said<\/a>. \u201cAs you all know, the Department of Justice is independent, and we will not politically interfere.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><b>Congress<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>The news of the discovery of classified documents at Pence\u2019s residence has generated mixed responses from lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman, House Committee on Oversight and Accountability <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-james-comer\">James Comer<\/a> (Republican from Kentucky) released a statement declaring that Pence had accepted to work with congressional oversight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFormer Vice President Mike Pence reached out today about classified documents found at his home in Indiana,\u201d Comer wrote. \u201cHe has agreed to fully cooperate with congressional oversight and any questions we have about the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFormer Vice President Pence\u2019s transparency stands in stark contrast to Biden White House staff who continue to withhold information from Congress and the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4680682\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/james-comer-e1661189389996-1200x731-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy wp-image-4680682 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/james-comer-e1661189389996-1200x731-1.jpg\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4680682 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/james-comer-e1661189389996-1200x731-1.jpg\" alt=\"Epoch Times Photo\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" \/><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a> Rep. (Drew Angerer\/Getty Images)<\/figure>\n<p>Comer charged the White House with a conspiracy to obstruct justice on Jan. 22. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/rep-james-comer-says-white-house-stonewalling-classified-documents-probe_5003423.html\">stonewalling<\/a>\u201d a Republican investigation into Biden\u2019s handling of classified documents.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.Rep. Jamie Raskin (D.Md.), is the ranking member of House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. He issued a statement affirming that the Department of Justice must conduct its probes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is critical that we allow the Justice Department to carry out its investigations and follow the facts in specific cases, and we should work together on a bipartisan basis to improve all relevant federal policies and practices,\u201d Raskin wrote. \u201cThere is plainly a lot of work to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) wrote on Twitter\u00a0on Jan. 24 that he believed neither Biden, Trump, nor Pence had anything \u201csinister\u201d How they handled classified documents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t believe there were \u2018sinister motives\u2019 with regards to the handling of classified information by President Biden, President Trump, or Vice President Pence,\u201d Graham wrote. \u201cWe have a classified information problem which needs to be fixed.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><b>Special Counsel<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Rep. Biden was not present. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/biden-says-its-his-intention-to-run-for-reelection-in-2024_4813774.html\">has indicated<\/a> That he will seek reelection.<\/p>\n<p>Garland on January 12, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/attorney-general-appoints-special-counsel-to-investigate-documents-found-at-bidens-home-office_4981026.html\">appointed<\/a> Robert Hur, a former federal prosecutor, as special counsel overseeing the inquiry into Biden\u2019s documents.<\/p>\n<p>Garland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/biden-administration-appoints-special-prosecutor-for-trump-probe_4872218.html\">appointed<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/what-we-know-about-jack-smith-special-counsel-appointed-in-trump-probes_4872769.html\">Jack Smith<\/a> As special counsel, I oversee the DOJ probes relating to Trump in November.<\/p>\n<p>FBI agents <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/trump-fbi-has-raided-mar-a-lago-property-under-siege_4651554.html\">raided<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-donald-trump\">Trump<\/a>\u2019s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida in August 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/us-government-seized-over-11000-non-classified-documents-from-trumps-home_4706797.html\">seizing<\/a> Over 11,000 photographs and documents without classified markings, and approximately 100 documents marked classified and top secret. Trump said that he would not sign any classified markings on over 11,000 documents and photographs.
