Though they desperately crave some credit for inclusion, the department is using Washingtonians to earn social currency, hoping to add to the department\u2019s progressive bona fides.<\/p>\n<p>By \u201ctransmasculine persons with a cervix,\u201d The WA DOH is an acronym \u201cbiological women,\u201d but it\u2019s possible the social media manager gets paid by the word. Transmasculine is an a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.com\/mind-body\/transmasculine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">term<\/a> Used to denote biological women who are male. Not everyone who says they\u2019re transmasculine identifies as a woman.<\/p>\n<p>Some Twitter users attacked WA DOH, pointing out that women only have a cervix. But rather than engage, offering up any kind of explanation as to why they\u2019re using the language they use, the WA DOH de facto censored critics by hiding their responses on the Twitter thread. If the department truly thought the criticisms were dangerous or disrespectful, they weren\u2019t so bad as to justify working over a long weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Only two comments were kept secret, as of January 17; they were sent on January 13, which was the date the department tweeted the advertisement campaign. It was just before the long weekend. The WA DOH was able to answer my questions about the decision not to hide content that disagrees with the ad. <em>Unhidden<\/em> Thank you for your comments. Although they were able to see my request for comment, WA DOH didn&#8217;t respond with a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the responses are, undoubtedly, vulgar. But many are simply pointing out that women exist, an ironic statement to make to a Democrat-run department filled with partisans who previously fought for women\u2019s rights.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe word you\u2019re looking for is woman. This isn\u2019t hard. So embarrassing,\u201d One user tweeted. Another user chimed in. \u201cYou mean WOMEN? What a joke you are!\u201d Another requirement is \u201cStop making up ridiculous ways of saying woman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A comment hidden on Twitter by a user is not visible to the public. Instead, click on the tweet to see the icon that indicates replies have been hidden.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComments with offensive content were hidden by staff over the weekend. Upon second review and evaluation, several comments which were originally hidden were unhidden, while comments which violated our policy have remained hidden,\u201d An official from WA DOH was interviewed by Jason Rantz on KTTH.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A cervix is a female genital area.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 francesca (@fran_mac75) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fran_mac75\/status\/1613993102657654803?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 13, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Human props<\/h3>\n<p>To the identity-obsessed WA DOH, any minority group is merely a prop to highlight the department\u2019s wokeness. It\u2019s why it\u2019s incredibly offensive.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTransmasculine persons with a cervix\u201d Only a small fraction of the total global population is represented, and that includes the Washington population. This message would benefit transgender men with an ervix more than transmasculine transsexuals with cervixes. Why did they create this message? They wanted credit.<\/p>\n<p>If they truly cared about representation, they\u2019d use the photos of the transmasculine persons with a cervix (which they <a href=\"https:\/\/genderspectrum.vice.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pulled<\/a> From the Gender Spectrum of Vice News), without drawing attention to that fact. It could have simply been about the importance to get a cervical screening. Viewers of the tweet will know if they have a cervix \u2014 including transmasculine persons. However, would WA DOH get social currency from Woke Twitter which searches for this kind information in order to help them identify public-health allies? It is not.<\/p>\n<p>It is vital to spread awareness about cervical screenings. But an awareness campaign that they know will illicit mockery doesn\u2019t help the cause. The WA DOH staff does not feel like they are being victimized for fighting for transmasculine people with cervix.
