This would allow them to establish a timeline for how the classified information was handled.<\/p>\n<p>Republican lawmakers launched the committee earlier this month after classified documents connected with Biden\u2019s time as vice president were first found by his personal lawyers in his private office at the Penn Biden Center, a think tank in Washington, D.C., just before the midterm elections last year.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, Biden\u2019s attorneys have located more classified documents at Biden\u2019s home in Wilmington on three separate occasions: an unspecified number found in his garage on December 20, one in Biden\u2019s study on January 11, and five more found in the study on January 12.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chair of the House Oversight Committee, sent letters addressed to the National Archives and the White House Counsel\u2019s Office on January 10, in which the committee demanded the material due to \u201cBiden\u2019s failure to return highly classified records from his time as vice president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Comer claimed that National Archives \u201cinstigated a public and unprecedented FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago \u2014 former President Trump\u2019s home\u2014 to retrieve presidential records.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Its] inconsistent treatment of recovering classified records held by former President Trump and President Biden raises questions about political bias at the agency,\u201d He added that, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/01\/10\/house-oversight-committee-biden-docs\">Axios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) questioned a key detail in Biden\u2019s classified document scandal during an interview Friday with Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy asked Biden why he had his lawyers remove him from the office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, we are, and you\u2019re missing one question: They say the attorneys found these documents,\u201d He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/kevin-mccarthy-questions-key-detail-in-bidens-classified-document-scandal\">said<\/a>. \u201cWho told the attorneys to look there?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomebody else knew the documents were there all along. Otherwise, why would the attorneys even look?\u201d McCarthy asked. \u201cWhoever hires lawyers to be movers?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden said that he had been informed of the scandal and has since apologized. \u201cno regrets\u201d Over his actions, and that he is being asked questions about the investigation \u201cquite frankly bugs\u201d him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re fully cooperating, looking forward to getting this resolved quickly,\u201d Biden claimed. \u201cI think you\u2019re gonna find there\u2019s nothing there. I have no regrets. I\u2019m following what the lawyers have told me they want me to do \u2014 that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re doing.
