M. Baker, a reporter who covers \u201csocial and cultural conflicts\u201d For the New York Times. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/01\/22\/us\/gender-identity-students-parents.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an article published this weekend<\/a>Baker recounts the story Jessica Bradshaw, a California mom who didn&#8217;t know her 15-year old daughter was beginning to have an affair with Baker \u201cidentifying\u201d She was a boy when she saw her mother. \u201can unfamiliar (male) name\u201d On the top of one homework assignment. When she went to the school demanding to know why this information was kept from her, she was informed that California doesn\u2019t require parents to be informed unless the student requests such notification.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThere was never any word from anyone to let us know that on paper, and in the classroom, our daughter was our son,\u201d Mrs. Bradshaw stated.<\/p>\n<p><span>The Bradshaws have been startled to find themselves at odds with the school over their right to know about, and weigh in on, such a major development in their child\u2019s life \u2014 a dispute that illustrates how school districts, which have long been a battleground in cultural conflicts over gender and sexuality, are now facing wrenching new tensions over how to accommodate transgender children.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The story of the Bradshaw family and their experience with their daughter\u2019s public school education is something of a horror show, but the <em>Times<\/em> The parents treat it as a nuanced debate. Although the parents ultimately accepted their daughter as their son, it was only with their permission. \u201ctrepidation.\u201d That&#8217;s not all. \u201ctrepidation\u201d The daughter requested it and the results were significant. <em>A mastectomy and hormone therapy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Not for nothing, but if the situation has already reached the point where the child is talking about hormones and surgery, it\u2019s time to remove them from that school and get them into therapy. It should also be time for a lawsuit, but we\u2019re talking about California, so that\u2019s probably a lost cause as well.<\/p>\n<p>The article goes on to provide additional details of the daughter\u2019s situation. It turns out she was already diagnosed as being &#8220;atypical&#8221; in the past. \u201con the autism spectrum,\u201d Aspect hyperactivity disorder can also be accompanied by anxiety and PTSD. Is this really a child who is able to give informed consent for medical procedures?<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t just another case of schools engaging in child abuse, though that\u2019s clearly what\u2019s going on. This is just another confirmation of the. \u201cprogressive\u201d Idea that children are better off being wards of state. The school district is nice enough. \u201cloan\u201d In the evenings, and on weekends, the children will be able to go back to their parents. It\u2019s a complete dismissal of the idea of parental rights unless the parents agree to toe the line of the trans agenda activists.<\/p>\n<p>As accepting as the Bradshaws may have been of their daughter\u2019s decision, they still had the common sense to ask an obvious question. Mrs. Bradshaw claimed that the school had \u201cmade her feel like a bad parent for wondering whether educators had put her teenager, a minor, on a path the school wasn\u2019t qualified to oversee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s exactly the point. Too many public schools have turned into indoctrination centres, where social contagion spreads faster than an epidemic of chickenpox. And rather than working with the families to ensure the children\u2019s safety, they are actively encouraging this. Private schools and homeschooling are likely to continue growing in popularity, but it is difficult to control this dangerous trend.
