It follows Microsoft&#8217;s previous investments of 2019 and 2021. Microsoft stated that the renewed partnership will help both companies to commercialize advanced technologies and accelerate breakthroughs in AI.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We formed our partnership with OpenAI around a shared ambition to responsibly advance cutting-edge AI research and democratize AI as a new technology platform,&#8221; Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in a blog post.<\/p>\n<p>OpenAI is closely integrated with Microsoft&#8217;s cloud services Azure. In July 2019,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/07\/22\/microsoft-invests-1-billion-in-elon-musks-openai.html\">Microsoft backed OpenAI with $1 billion<\/a>Microsoft made the investment and it was a success. &#8220;exclusive&#8221; OpenAI is a provider of cloud computing services. Microsoft Monday stated that Azure will still be OpenAI&#8217;s exclusive provider.<\/p>\n<p>The release stated that Microsoft&#8217;s investment will help both companies to engage in supercomputing at large scales and create new AI-powered experiences.<\/p>\n<p>OpenAI is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/01\/21\/deepmind-openai-fair-ai-researchers-rank-the-top-ai-labs-worldwide.html\">ranked by AI researchers<\/a>\u00a0as one of the top three AI labs worldwide, and the company has\u00a0developed game-playing AI software that can beat humans at video\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2019\/4\/13\/18309459\/openai-five-dota-2-finals-ai-bot-competition-og-e-sports-the-international-champion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">games such as Dota 2<\/a>. When the venture was launched, the group promised to invest more than $1 billion.
