(Photo by Nathan Howard\/Getty Images).    <\/p>\n<p>Katherine Clark (Mass.) is the Democratic House minor whip.)\u2014whose child was arrested for assaulting a police officer last weekend\u2014has <a href=\"https:\/\/katherineclark.house.gov\/in-the-news?ID=B18DBD52-8F73-4380-A06A-62338CF0DE46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deleted a press release<\/a> From her House website, which gave glowing coverage of the &#8220;defund the police&#8221; movement.<\/p>\n<p>Clark stated on her website, June 14, 2020 that the country must reallocate its resources &#8220;resources to move police from being a culture of being warriors to being guardians.&#8221; The press release is linked to a\u00a0<em>Boston Globe<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/2020\/06\/14\/nation\/defund-police-makes-some-democrats-uncomfortable-thats-point-activists-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> that favorably featured pro-defund activists and\u00a0quoted the Massachusetts Democrat on anti-police legislation being pushed in the House. This post was still in place as recently as November according to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20221113221510\/https:\/katherineclark.house.gov\/in-the-news?ID=B18DBD52-8F73-4380-A06A-62338CF0DE46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an archived version<\/a> You can find the page here.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities on Monday charged Clark\u2019s nonbinary child, Jared &#8220;Riley&#8221; Dowell was charged with multiple crimes, including assaulting a police officer at an anti-cop demonstration last weekend. Dowell was <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/dem-lawmakers-child-released-on-500-bail-after-assaulting-cop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released<\/a> Monday night was spent pleading guilty to all charges and posting a $500 cash bond.\u00a0Clark spokeswoman didn&#8217;t respond to a request for comment regarding the deleted posts.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Globe<\/em> It pointed out that Steny Hoyer, the former House majority leader, was among other Democratic leaders (D. Md.). and President Joe Biden did not support defunding police. Other people, such as former House majority whip Jim Clyburn (D., S.C.), and former president Barack Obama, disassociated themselves from the movement, and disparaged it. &#8220;slogan&#8221; Following a summer full of riots.<\/p>\n<p>Clark called on Democrats in a statement made during the riots to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. &#8220;policing laws and practices have traumatized Black communities and shielded law enforcement from accountability.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We must change the policies at the root of these racial inequities so that every mom and spouse has the same assumption of safety for their family that I have for mine,&#8221; she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonherald.com\/2020\/06\/08\/democrats-unveil-sweeping-police-reform-amid-george-floyd-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> The <em>Boston Herald<\/em> In June 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Clark did not remove the defund the post from the police force. This is not a widespread deletion.\u00a0Clark <a href=\"https:\/\/katherineclark.house.gov\/2020\/6\/we-are-the-mighty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shared<\/a> The <em>Herald <\/em>On June 8, 2020, she posted the piece on her website, one week before publishing the now-deleted press release.
