There were many problems, including misconfigured printers that created faulty ballots and long waiting lists. <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/23\/maricopa-county-made-arizonas-elections-even-more-of-a-disaster-than-people-realize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">list of problems<\/a> witnessed throughout Arizona\u2019s most populous county is seemingly endless. <\/p>\n<p>And while the state\u2019s Democrat victors have since been sworn into office following the certification of the 2022 election results, that hasn\u2019t stopped Arizona\u2019s GOP gubernatorial and attorney general candidates \u2014 Kari Lake and Abraham Hamadeh \u2014 from trying to achieve some form of accountability given the untold number of voters disenfranchised on Election Day. Despite the media blackout and several legal defeats, both Republicans continue to seek legal remedies for the multitude of issues that plagued the 2022 election.<\/p>\n<p> Governor\u2019s Race <\/p>\n<p>After giving her a massage, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/12\/12\/maricopa-countys-maladministration-of-2022-elections-cost-kari-lake-the-governors-race-lawsuit-claims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> struck down in Maricopa\u2019s Superior Court late last month, Lake has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/18\/with-25000-mysterious-votes-and-missing-documents-maricopas-2022-election-process-marked-by-chaos-and-uncertainty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed<\/a> Separate appeals to an appellate court or the Arizona Supreme Court. Since then, the former has agreed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/kari-lake-shares-election-update-from-court-of-appeals\/ar-AA16jISa?li=BBnbfcL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expedite her case<\/a> To be heard by judges on February 1. <\/p>\n<p>In her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clerkofcourt.maricopa.gov\/home\/showpublisheddocument\/4151\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suit<\/a>Lake asserts that the tabulator problems Maricopa voters encountered on Election Day were caused by Lake \u201cthe result of intentional action\u201d Maricopa election officials failed to maintain chain-of custody records for almost 300,000 ballots as required by Arizona law. <\/p>\n<p>Maricopa poll workers will be at work on Election Day\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/23\/maricopa-county-made-arizonas-elections-even-more-of-a-disaster-than-people-realize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">roughly 30 percent<\/a>\u00a0of the county\u2019s voting centers began reporting that their respective vote tabulation machines were rejecting voters\u2019 ballots, resulting in long wait times and widespread confusion among voters and election workers alike. Then-Secretary of State Katie Hobbs\u2019 margin of victory over Lake was about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2022\/11\/08\/us\/elections\/results-arizona-governor.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">17,000 votes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/23\/maricopa-county-made-arizonas-elections-even-more-of-a-disaster-than-people-realize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maricopa County Made Arizona\u2019s Elections Even More Of A Disaster Than People Realize<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the case\u2019s two-day trial last month, Lake\u2019s legal team sought to prove the vote tabulators\u2019 refusal to accept ballots stemmed from an intentionally misconfigured printer setting that didn\u2019t comport with the size of the ballot paper. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/amgreatness.com\/2022\/12\/22\/kari-lake-expert-witness-missized-ballots-that-caused-election-day-chaos-could-not-have-been-an-accident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Greatness<\/a>, Lake\u2019s lawyer\u2019s claimed that after \u201ca review of random ballots,\u201d They were amazed at what they found \u201cthat 48 out of 113 (42.5 percent) were \u201919-inch ballots produced on 20-inch paper,\u2019 causing them to be rejected.\u201d Clay Parikh (a cybersecurity specialist) was summoned to inspect the ballots of the Lake campaign.
