After someone saw the fall, the congressman was rushed to hospital and dialed 911. First responders arrived on the scene.<\/p>\n<p>After four days at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Steube tweeted a photo of himself at home, still wearing a stabilizing brace around his neck, on a couch with his dogs \u2014 and he shared how his recovery was going.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am blessed to have a great support team in my wife Jennifer as well as numerous friends and family, including the Steube pups,\u201d On Monday afternoon, he tweeted. \u201cGrateful for everyone\u2019s prayers and well-wishes as I recover from a fractured pelvis, a punctured lung, and several torn ligaments in my neck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">My wife Jennifer and many friends, as well as the Steube dogs, are my great support system.<\/p>\n<p>Grateful for everyone\u2019s prayers and well-wishes as I recover from a fractured pelvis, a punctured lung, and several torn ligaments in my neck. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zQBtsWZPo0\">pic.twitter.com\/zQBtsWZPo0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Congressman Greg Steube (@RepGregSteube) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepGregSteube\/status\/1617681754906845185?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 24, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Steube went on to say that his recovery was likely to keep him out of Washington, D.C., for awhile \u2014 but that he planned to stay as connected and involved as he could during his convalescence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I will be sidelined in Sarasota for several weeks, I will be carrying out as many of my congressional duties as possible,\u201d He added. \u201cAnd our D.C. and district staff continue to be readily available to assist Floridians in FL-17.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019m eager to rejoin my colleagues in Washington as soon as possible!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Congressman Greg Steube (@RepGregSteube) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepGregSteube\/status\/1617681760917258240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 24, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m eager to rejoin my colleagues in Washington as soon as possible!\u201d He concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Steube\u2019s absence, Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/florida-rep-steube-provides-update-his-recovery-25-foot-fall-sarasota-roof\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>\u00a0on Monday that newly-elected House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had been in touch with Steube to inform him of his committee assignment: the Florida lawmaker is set to serve\u00a0on the new Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.<\/p>\n<p>While Steube will likely be able to participate in some of his duties from home, the new rules adopted by the Republican-controlled House have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/mccarthy-puts-the-kibosh-on-proxy-voting-no-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">put an end to proxy voting<\/a> and virtual hearings \u2014 meaning that the congressman will not be able to cast a vote or fully participate in hearings until he recovers enough to return to Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congressman Greg Steube (R-FL) shared an update on his health on Monday after a fall from a ladder outside his Sarasota, Florida, home resulted in a trip to the Intensive Care Unit.
