Fox recently admitted to using drugs and alcohol as an escape in the early days following his Parkinson\u2019s diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>Fox <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/entertainment\/movies\/2023\/01\/22\/michael-j-fox-parkinsons-still-documentary\/11101412002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">detailed his story<\/a> In a documentary film. \u201cStill: A Michael J. Fox Movie,\u201d which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival \u2014 and revealed that for seven years following his 1991 diagnosis, he had also battled addiction, denial, and depression.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cBack to the Future\u201d Star was still in the studio at the time. He explained that he was using props for his shaking hands, popping dopamine tablets and to conceal his shaking hands. \u201clike Halloween Smarties\u201d To slow down the progression of his disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherapeutic value, comfort \u2013 none of these were the reason I took these pills. There was only one reason: to hide. I became a virtuoso of manipulating drug intake\u00a0so that I\u2019d\u00a0peak at exactly the right time and place,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/michael-j-fox-reflects-on-recent-health-setbacks-says-hes-happy-overall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox<\/a> This is what the documentary said.<\/p>\n<p>Fox said that he turned to alcohol to cope with the despair at learning that his condition wasn&#8217;t only permanent, but also degenerative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t know what was happening. I didn\u2019t know what was coming. So what if I could just have four glasses of wine and maybe a shot? I was definitely an alcoholic. But I\u2019ve gone 30 years without having a drink,\u201d Fox continued.<\/p>\n<p>Fox credits his wife, Tracy Pollan (actress), with helping him get sober, even though it seemed impossible at times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs low as alcohol had brought me, abstinence would bring me lower. I could no longer escape myself. You can\u2019t pretend at home that you don\u2019t have Parkinson\u2019s because you\u2019re just there with it. If I\u2019m out in the world, I\u2019m\u00a0dealing with other people and they don\u2019t know I\u00a0have it,\u201d He said.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSpin City\u201d actor\u2019s documentary <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2023\/film\/festivals\/michael-j-fox-documentary-still-standing-ovation-sundance-film-festival-premiere-1235497030\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">received a standing ovation<\/a> when it premiered on Friday \u2014 and he took the stage to talk about his advocacy for Parkinson\u2019s research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople say, \u2018But that will be after your time, are you ok with that?&#8217;\u201d Fox said, noting that medical research often takes time \u2014 and that he couldn\u2019We don&#8217;t know how much time they had.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto lrv-a-font-body-m\">\u201cS*** yeah,\u201d He answered his own questions. \u201cThat would be great. Harrelson, after watching a fight between cobras and mongooses, explained that Thailand&#8217;s locals mixed cobra blood with whiskey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrinking the cobra blood is called \u2018becoming brother to the snake,&#8217;\u201d He said. \u201cMike and I drink lots of things together, and he can hold his own \u2014 can I say, he\u2019s Canadian.
