The DOJ began a search for the suspects, which was a significant escalation.<\/p>\n<p>Far from the initial excuse offered by the White House that some briefings had just accidentally gotten swept up in the packing process of Biden\u2019s vice presidential office, this newest find contained classified documents from his senatorial days. In my article on this revelation, I stated that it was unlikely for a senator to accidentally take classified documents. That is because security protocols make it impossible to know what and why.<\/p>\n<p>Early in the scandal, my comment was that everyone who went out on a limb for Biden&#8217;s defense would eventually have it cut out of under them. That\u2019s happened multiple times at this point with the slow-roll of documents being found coupled with the White House\u2019s purposeful obfuscation of the timeline. These developments have left the left with few options but to move the goalposts.<\/p>\n<p>For example, some are still trying to draw a distinction that Biden is in the clear because he\u2019s supposedly cooperating, whatever that means given he illegally possessed these documents for years, and in regard to some of them, decades.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Consent searches will be the basis for DOJ&#8217;s decision on whether or not to prosecute. Fundamental difference. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4VSuSiP9QO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/t.co\/4VSuSiP9QO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Oeishik\ud83c\udfb1 (@NoOneUnscripted) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NoOneUnscripted\/status\/1617018975703138304?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January 22, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To recap, Biden\u2019s defenders started by asserting that this was all no big deal because it was just one trove of documents that were inadvertently packed up as he left the Obama administration behind. Then, after a second set of documents was found in the president\u2019s garage, they assured everyone that it was fine because he was cooperating and being transparent.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, that wasn\u2019t true. Biden had no choice but to cooperate. Transparency was also a requirement. The timeline was not disclosed by the administration, and the DOJ found the second set in December. Karine Jean-Pierre and other Biden aides framed the initial set of documents as a unique one-off, even though they knew there were more. Things took a dark turn when the White House became increasingly hostile after the appointment of the special counsel.<\/p>\n<p>Now, with a fifth trove of documents being discovered, this time by the DOJ itself, claims that Biden was unaware he had all this stuff no longer make any sense, and that\u2019s left his defenders nowhere else to go. That\u2019s why they are now spouting these silly, meaningless qualifications about Biden consenting to the search. Who knew that if a criminal doesn\u2019t obstruct his own investigation after being caught, the crime simply ceases to exist? That\u2019s where we are in the line of ridiculous excuses being offered.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of what the left may claim, Biden broke the law. It doesn&#8217;t matter to what extent Trump could have done it in a different manner (though he has the legal argument to show that he declassified documents that he owned, which Biden didn&#8217;t have). The law is not the standard. \u201cbut the orange man.\u201d A crime does not disappear if you cooperate after the fact.
