Fox\u2019s decades-long struggle with Parkinson\u2019s disease, and depicts the \u201cBack to the Future\u201d star\u2019s enormous optimism in the face of hardship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe walking really freaks people out,\u201d After taking a stroll through Manhattan, the actor, 61, spoke out about the challenges he experiences with his stride. \u201cBut if you pity me, it\u2019s never gonna get to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStill: A Michael J. Fox Movie\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/01\/20\/michael-j-fox-at-sundance-its-an-amazing-f-king-life\/\">premiered at the Sundance Film Festival <\/a>Friday to a long standing ovation for both the movie and its beloved subject who\u2019d flown into Utah for the event.<\/p>\n<p>Fox spoke onstage following the screening. \u201cIt\u2019s been a f\u2013king amazing life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Apple TV+ will be available later in the year \u201cStill\u201d The performer is known for his boyishness, and ability to deliver a punchline. He was just 16 years old when he moved to Hollywood from Edmonton, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>His father, who was skeptical, gave in and bankrolled the trip, telling him that he believed. \u201cIf you\u2019re gonna be a lumberjack, you might as well live in the goddamn forest.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2013\/09\/foxfamilyties.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/foxfamilyties.jpg\" alt=\"Michael J. Keaton \u201cFamily Ties.\u201d<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Everett Collection<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After a series of low-paying gigs and five years in a grungy Beverly Hills studio apartment \u2014 he says he had so little money, he resorted to eating Smuckers jam packets \u2014 Fox became one of America\u2019s most famous actors. <\/p>\n<p>At 21 years of age, he was cast as Alex P. Keaton (TV series). \u201cFamily Ties,\u201d Marty McFly was then cast as his lasting role in the movie. \u201cBack to the Future\u201d trilogy. His films were shown for one week in 1985. \u201cBack to the Future\u201d And \u201cTeen Wolf\u201d They were the No. They were the No. 2 films at the domestic box-office<\/p>\n<p>He was at his peak of popularity, graced the pages of glossies and lounging comfortably on the couch. \u201cThe Tonight Show,\u201d But things would soon crumble. <\/p>\n<p>Fox claims that Fox is the embodiment of fame \u201cI was the Prince of Hollywood,\u201d However, his life experiences have taught him that he is better. \u201cYou think it\u2019s made of brick and rock. But it\u2019s not. It\u2019s made out of paper and feathers. After waking up feeling hungover, he noticed his pinky finger was twitching. When it didn\u2019t improve, he finally visited a neurologist in 1991 who diagnosed him with Parkinson\u2019s. Shocked, he retorted at the doctor. \u201cYou know who you\u2019re talking to, right? I\u2019m not supposed to get this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For seven years, he kept his diagnosis secret. He took dopamine tablets to calm the symptoms early on and carried props in the left hand to cover the shaking. Retrospectively, footage from his time at the time revealed the stress he was going through. He used alcohol to overcome his silence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI drank to dissociate,\u201d He says it to Davis Guggenheim. \u201cI was definitely an alcoholic. In the weeks the documentary was filmed, he sustained several injuries from falls, which is a common symptom of Parkinson\u2019s. Fox fractured his left cheekbone, his hand and arm bones, as well as his shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA festival of self-abuse,\u201d He jokes.<\/p>\n<p>Fox doesn\u2019t like when people tell him to \u201cbe careful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has nothing to do with being careful,\u201d He said. \u201cThis happens. You get Parkinson\u2019s, you trip over stuff.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He is pictured here with Sam, his 33-year old son. Sam is one of the four children he shares. \u201cFamily Ties\u201d co-star Tracy Pollan, Fox asks, \u201cDo you feel like you have a 90-year-old dad? He <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/11\/19\/michael-j-fox-retires-due-to-declining-health\/\">retired from acting in 2020<\/a>He continues to write books about his experiences and Michael J.
