However they must register their guns with the Illinois State Police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Pritzker\u2019s office\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.illinois.gov\/news\/press-release.25890.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">released a statement<\/a>\u00a0Upon his signing of the bill. It stated, in part: \u201cThe new law also requires existing owners of semi-automatic rifles to register their ownership, ensuring that law enforcement knows the location of these weapons of war and who to hold accountable if they fall into the wrong hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>FOX News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/illinois-gun-control-law-slapped-restraining-order-judge-days-goes-into-effect\">noted<\/a> Judge Morrison issued a TRO Friday for a case brought to him by \u201ccitizens from 87 Illinois counties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Morrison stated that the U.S. Constitution as well as the Illinois Constitution protect the right of bear arms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">He noticed that 830 of the 87 county plaintiffs had filed for relief. \u201care being immediately and irreparably harmed each day in which their fundamental right to bear arms is being denied.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>On January 15, 2023, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2nd-amendment\/2023\/01\/15\/sheriffs-80-illinois-counties-wont-enforce-assault-weapons-ban\/\">pointed out<\/a> that sheriffs in 80 of Illinois\u2019 102 counties had made clear they believe the ban violated the constitution and were refusing to enforce it.<\/p>\n<p>The 20th of January 2023 will see the commencement <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/most-illinois-sheriffs-say-they-wont-enforce-new-assault-weapons-ban-11674175079\">explained<\/a> \u201calmost every sheriff in Illinois has vowed not to enforce a new ban on military-style semiautomatic weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>AWR Hawkins is an award-winning Second Amendment columnist for Breitbart News\u00a0and the writer\/curator of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/downrange\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Down Range with AWR Hawkins<\/a>,\u00a0a weekly newsletter focused on all things Second Amendment, also for Breitbart News.
