Since then, Biden\u2019s attorneys have located more classified documents at Biden\u2019s home in Wilmington, Delaware, on three separate occasions: an unspecified number found in the garage on December 20, one document found in Biden\u2019s study on January 11, and five more found in the study on January 12.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Attorney-General Merrick Garland\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/merrick-garland-appoints-special-counsel-to-investigate-biden-classified-document-scandal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appointed<\/a>\u00a0former U.S. Attorney Robert Hur \u2014 who served during the Trump administration \u2014 to serve as special counsel in the investigation after the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch, who was assigned to do an initial review of the case, recommended to Garland that a special counsel be appointed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsistent with longstanding policy and practice, any oversight requests must be weighed against the Department\u2019s interests in protecting the integrity of its work,\u201d The DOJ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/620991131\/2023-01-20-OUT-Jordan-HJC-1#fullscreen=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> In a letter to Jim Jordan, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee (R-OH). \u201cLongstanding Department policy prevents us from confirming or denying the existence of pending investigations in response to congressional requests or providing non-public information about our investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department\u2019s mission to independently and impartially uphold the rule of law requires us to maintain the integrity of our investigations, prosecutions, and civil actions, and to avoid even a perception that our efforts are influenced by anything but the law and the facts,\u201d The letter was continued. \u201cSo does the Department\u2019s obligation to protect witnesses and law enforcement, avoid flight by those implicated in our investigations, and prevent additional crimes and attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The House Judiciary Committee received a response to the letter. \u201cWhy\u2019s DOJ scared to cooperate with our investigations?\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Why\u2019s DOJ scared to cooperate with our investigations?<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 House Judiciary GOP (@JudiciaryGOP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JudiciaryGOP\/status\/1616545207608115200?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 20, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p>USA Today <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2023\/01\/21\/doj-investigation-house-gop-letter\/11096594002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a> The DOJ&#8217;s response letter was to a Jordanian letter. \u201cdemanded documents and communications about a cache of classified documents found at Biden\u2019s former office at a think tank in Washington and at his Wilmington home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-issues-statement-over-classified-document-scandal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">responded<\/a>\u00a0To the scandal of Thursday, he said that he had \u201cno regrets\u201d Concerning his actions and the possibility of him being questioned about the investigation \u201cquite frankly bugs\u201d him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re fully cooperating, looking forward to getting this resolved quickly,\u201d Biden claimed. \u201cI think you\u2019re gonna find there\u2019s nothing there. I have no regrets. I\u2019m following what the lawyers have told me they want me to do \u2014 that\u2019s exactly what we\u2019re doing.
