It revealed that the Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force was created two years ago by the White House. However, the Task Force had no leadership. Only 19 pages were produced by the Agriculture Department. <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2022-OSEC-04513-F-Responsive_Redacted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">records<\/a> After five months, the Functional Government Institute filed a federal lawsuit against the entity. 14 pages were copied from statements made public about the initiative. None of the records offered evidence that Vilsack and his deputies had attended any meetings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the administration rightly recognized in creating the Task Force, supply chain issues threaten the economic and national security of the country,\u201d Peter McGinnis, spokesperson of Functional Government Institute, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/functionalgovernment.org\/usda-secretary-vilsacks-leadership-of-the-supply-chain-task-force-all-hat-and-no-cattle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>. \u201cSecretary Vilsack\u2019s failure to convene a single meeting with his fellow leaders, while dedicating federal resources to investigate and blame the private sector, shows that the Task Force was little more than a cynical attempt to signal engagement on supply chain disruptions while, in fact, doing little or nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to a June 2021 report, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was named co-chair of the task force with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/06\/08\/fact-sheet-biden-harris-administration-announces-supply-chain-disruptions-task-force-to-address-short-term-supply-chain-discontinuities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> The White House stated that officials would concentrate on products like construction materials, semiconductors and food supplies. Vilsack stated in another. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usda.gov\/media\/press-releases\/2021\/06\/08\/usda-invest-more-4-billion-strengthen-food-system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>\u00a0He was keen to \u201cmobilize a whole-of-government effort to address the short-term supply challenges our country faces as it recovers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Functional Government Institute noted that Buttigieg\u2019s calendars during his two-month <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/transportation-secretary-pete-buttigieg-has-been-on-paid-leave-for-months-amid-supply-chain-crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paternity leave<\/a> He also indicated that he didn&#8217;t participate in any meetings related to the initiative. Buttigieg has been more active in the initiative&#8217;s development. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/buttigieg-vacationed-in-posh-european-tourist-destination-as-rail-unions-neared-strike\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vacationed<\/a>\u00a0Portugal was facing the possibility of a national rail strike at the end last year.<\/p>\n<p>Many governments around the globe imposed lockdowns and health mandates that caused supply chain shocks. This contributed to inflation. An analysis of the data shows that sectors most affected by foreign bottleneck exposure such as automotive manufacturing, textiles, basic metals, and other industries saw the greatest inflationary pressures. <a href=\"https:\/\/research.stlouisfed.org\/publications\/economic-synopses\/2022\/05\/12\/supply-chain-disruptions-and-inflation-during-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analysis<\/a> From the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis<\/p>\n<p>After industry leaders pressured the Biden administration, the creation of the Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force was made. \u201cstrong leadership\u201d In addressing the crisis \u201cThe supply chain disruption issues, especially the congestion affecting our key maritime ports, are causing significant challenges for America\u2019s retailers,\u201d Matthew Shay, National Retail Federation CEO, wrote in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/we-need-strong-leadership-executives-beg-biden-to-fix-supply-chain-issues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> President Joe Biden \u201cAs the administration undergoes supply chain reviews for critical sectors, including transportation, addressing the current state of our nation\u2019s ports and freight movement needs to be a critical component of the strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials from the Biden administration have nonetheless taken credit for some reduction in price rises.
