It also included the silencing and suppression of journalists who were challenging the regime, among other bombshells. According to the communications, Twitter received $3,000,000 in federal government assistance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These shocking revelations were backed up with the internal communications from high-ranking Twitter executives. However, corporate media ignored the scandals. Why is this?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here are five reasons why the corrupt press refuses to adequately cover these issues \u201cThe Twitter Files.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>1. Giving Credence To Trump\u2019s 2020 Election Claims Would Be Unforgivable <\/h2>\n<p>Exact coverage \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d would require the media to report on the FBI\u2019s role in burying the Hunter Biden laptop story shortly before the 2020 election. This is among other things. \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d revealed the FBI met monthly and then weekly with Twitter\u2019s team, warning them of various foreign efforts to interfere in the election. Those internal communications, when coupled with an earlier statement Yoel Roth, the then-head of Twitter\u2019s site integrity, provided to the Federal Election Commission, establish the FBI was behind Twitter\u2019s censorship of the Hunter Biden story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince 2018 he had regular meetings with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and industry peers regarding election security,\u201d Roth stated. \u201cDuring these weekly meetings, the federal law enforcement agencies communicated that they expected \u2018hack-and-leak operations\u2019 by state actors might occur in the period shortly before the 2020 presidential election, likely in October,\u201d Roth added that he learned so much from those meetings \u201cthat there were rumors that a hack-and-leak operation would involve Hunter Biden.\u201d Roth explained then that the following \u201cprior warnings of a hack-and-leak operation and doubts about the provenance of the materials republished in the N.Y. Post articles,\u201d Twitter &#8211; Twitter has concluded \u201cthe materials could have been obtained through hacking.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When Roth\u2019s statement is read together with the internal emails establishing that Twitter banned the New York Post\u2019s blockbuster reporting under the guise that the materials had been hacked, the FBI\u2019s responsibility for causing the censorship of this politically explosive story is clear. And because the FBI knew Hunter\u2019s laptop had not been hacked and that the materials on it were authentic, by prompting the censorship of the story, the FBI knowingly interfered in the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>Or as Donald Trump stated it on Truth Social. \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/12\/16\/trump-twitter-election-rigged\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">broke<\/a>: \u201cThe biggest thing to come out of the Twitter Targeting Hoax is that the Presidential Election was RIGGED \u2014 And that\u2019s as big as it can get!!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To be truthful in reporting by the media \u201cThe Twitter Files,\u201d then, would require it to give credence to Trump\u2019s \u201cRIGGED\u201d claims \u2014 something it just cannot stomach. Instead, corrupt media responded. \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d With silence or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/12\/16\/trump-twitter-election-rigged\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Being the Press Means Never Having to Say You\u2019re Sorry<\/h2>\n<p>The second reason why the media refuses to cover is \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d stems from the corrupt media\u2019s inability to acknowledge its own bias, wrongdoing, and hackery. To cover the scandals exposed in the files, media elites would have to admit their role in censoring news and their shortcomings as journalists.<\/p>\n<p>While historically, journalists stood in unity with their fellow reporters, when Twitter and other tech companies censored and then deplatformed the New York Post, the press \u2014 in the main \u2014 remained silent. In contrast, when Musk temporarily suspended reporters\u2019 accounts who had posted location tracking information in violation of Twitter\u2019s new rules, a thud sounded as the same journalists collectively collapsed on their fainting couches.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These supposed journalists-standard-bearers did not condemn the censorship. Most ignored the story. NPR, for example, did not discuss the details of this scandal but only the justifications they had for doing so. \u201cWe don\u2019t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don\u2019t want to waste the listeners\u2019 and readers\u2019 time on stories that are just pure distractions,\u201d NPR is emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>Coverage \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d Now would be an implicit acknowledgment that they were wrong in not reporting on the laptop story and equally bad for failing to condemn the Post&#8217;s censure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d There are also some questions that news outlets should be asking: Did the FBI warn legacy journalists about Russian disinformation? This could have been in the form of possibly hacked materials that Hunter Biden was a part of? Do you think that&#8217;s why they didn&#8217;t report the story? Or did they allow the Post to continue its censorship unchallenged.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Reporting \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d Legacy outlets would have to face the possibility that the FBI had played their hands and that they were ready to trust the government, rather than being a check on its abuse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d Also, it vindicates Musk and refutes the media narrative that the Twitter takeover was the end of the tech giant. Not only did the avalanche of predicted hate speech not materialize, but under Musk\u2019s leadership, Twitter\u2019s newfound transparency has served both the public interest and a (functioning) free press. Reporting on these facts, then, would require the press not only to acknowledge its own failings but to apologize to Musk and admit their own complicity \u2014 things they are apparently unable to do.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Condemning The Feds Would Hurt Their Heroes and Shut Down Resources<\/h2>\n<p>Most likely, the media ignores as well \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d to protect their sources \u2014 both literally and figuratively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The legacy media is likely to have regular sources of information from many of the same FBI agents and government officials like Rep. Adam Schiff, D.Calif. This is particularly likely if the FBI tried to force the media to censor Hunter Biden&#8217;s story, just as it did with Facebook and Twitter. Reporting \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d This would force media outlets to punish those who leak valuable information. Condemning those individuals could shut down various source networks the corrupt media can\u2019t risk.<\/p>\n<p>The media likely also don\u2019t want to \u201churt\u201d Because they are on the same anti-Trump team, their sources and FBI agents who spread the Russia disinformation lie about tech companies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Just as the media refuse to condemn the Department of Justice and FBI agents involved in pushing the Russia-collusion hoax because the press favored the unwarranted attacks on Trump that hamstrung his administration, the leftist media silently applauds the FBI\u2019s interference in the 2020 election because it helped deny Trump a second term.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, the legacy media and the deep state share the same worldview \u2014 that the ends justify the means. The media will thus keep mum about what the FBI did because they\u2019re grateful that intelligence agencies destroyed Trump\u2019s chance to defeat Biden by prompting the censorship of the October surprise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>4. The Russian Bogeyman must be protected at all costs<\/h2>\n<p>Don&#8217;t ignore \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d The media also has the ability to preserve their Russia Russia Russia narrative.<\/p>\n<p>The different \u201cTwitter File\u201d threads revealed several damning details concerning Russia\u2019s supposed interference in American politics. First, they exposed how the FBI and federal intelligence agencies used Russia\u2019s supposed interference in the 2016 election to push for more resources and collaboration with tech giants. Second, the files revealed that, notwithstanding federal agents\u2019 claims, there were no systemic efforts by Russia to use Twitter to interfere in the U.S. elections. To the contrary, the internal communications showed the FBI pushing for evidence of Russian interference and Twitter executives countering that they weren\u2019t seeing issues.<\/p>\n<p>As described above, third \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d The FBI used the excuse of Russian disinformation to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story. <\/p>\n<p>Fourth and finally, the internal Twitter communications showed that the trending of the #ReleaseTheMemo hashtag was not prompted by Russian bots or Russian-connected accounts and that Democrats such as Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Schiff\u2019s claims to the contrary were false. Those communications also revealed that even though Twitter negated the Russian-interference theory \u2014 telling politicians point blank that the evidence showed #ReleseTheMemo was trending because of organic interest in the hashtag \u2014 Democrats and the media continued to push that false storyline.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d It would be necessary for the media to admit they were wrong about their #ReleaseTheMemo tweet coverage. But what\u2019s more, covering Twitter\u2019s internal communications would force the press to dispel the notion that Russia is the bogeyman behind every Republican candidate and every negative story about Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Corrupt media must keep Russia the bad guy for future election and to prevent future scandals from affecting Democrats. Accurate reporting is essential \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d would lessen the effects of any later resort to a Russia, Russia, Russia narrative \u2014 and the press can\u2019t have that.<\/p>\n<h2>5. Reporters Would Rather Be Propagandists Than Journalists<\/h2>\n<p>There are many reasons why the press won&#8217;t report on these matters. \u201cThe Twitter Files,\u201d It all boils down to one thing: The legacy media don&#8217;t have any.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s journalists who work at outlets that used to be the benchmark for journalists are more concerned with politics than their professional obligations. The end goal of corrupt journalists is not to inform the public or provide a check on politicians, rich and powerful. Instead, they want to use their power for their own beliefs and agendas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The reporters refused to cover the story. \u201cThe Twitter Files\u201d Their role as propagandists is preferable to that of journalists.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n Margot Cleveland, The Federalist&#8217;s senior law correspondent, is Margot.
