And when they got to the school and talk to the social worker, they were told that the school was counseling and treating the child for gender dysphoria, and never informed the parent,\u201d Brown stated.<\/p>\n<p>Parents also claim that a teacher posted sex educational materials on a bulletinboard that contained the parents&#8217; names. \u201cdefinitions of sexual items\u201d These are \u201cnot part of the district standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The parents claim that the district\u2019s legal counsel refused to explain the district\u2019s official policy on these issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe schools do not have the right to withhold information from parents for any reason. Especially when it involves mental health,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/abc6onyourside.com\/news\/local\/hilliard-city-schools-parents-republican-group-lawsuit-lgbtq-idoctrination-badges-qr-code-ohio-parental-rights-mental-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Lisa Chaffee, one of the lawsuit\u2019s plaintiffs and the\u00a0director of Ohio Parents Rights in Education.<\/p>\n<p>Superintendent David Stewart <a href=\"https:\/\/www.10tv.com\/article\/news\/local\/hilliard-city-schools-district-responds-to-parents-lawsuit\/530-91f18217-d749-4aad-9e45-d13c6d6af039\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> The parents are doing it.\u00a0\u201cbroad-brush accusations\u201d In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abc6onyourside.com\/news\/local\/hilliard-superintendent-reacts-to-lawsuit-filed-against-district-by-conservative-parents-lgbtq-badges-support-mental-health-sexuality-conversations-education-federal-court-central-ohio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart stated that he took immediate action after being alerted by teachers to the problem of students being asked about their pronouns.<\/p>\n<p>The superintendent said that\u00a0the district does not support surveying students on this topic, and every teacher should now be aware of this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile it may not be best practice, it is not illegal,\u201d Stewart said.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart also addressed LGBT issues \u201cI\u2019m Here\u201d Some teachers may wear badges that were issued by the local teachers&#8217; union.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit claimed that the badges have a QR code linking to instructions about sexual positions that could be scanned\u00a0by students from far away and that one student was given a badge.<\/p>\n<p>According to the superintendent, the front of the badge is the visible part for students and reads \u201cI\u2019m Here\u201d With the distinctive LGBT-colored stripes. The badge&#8217;s back has a QR code that teachers can use to potentially get materials. \u201cinappropriate\u201d For students. Stewart said that they decided to cover QR codes. Stewart did not know of any students accessing it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lawsuit calls for counselors, not teachers, to be called in when issues arise concerning a student\u2019s medical or mental health. We agree. Indeed, the single example cited in the lawsuit involves a student exhibiting the need for mental health counseling who was taken to a professional social worker.
