The company also limits the number of pre-approved \u201cstills\u201d provided to journalists for various one-hour events.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix\u2019s latest move, though, is a head-scratcher.<\/p>\n<p>The company recently released \u201cAndrew Santino: Cheeseburger.\u201d The comedy special from the Left-leaning comic touches on Climate Change, free speech and his disdain for politicians.<\/p>\n<p>Pretty standard stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix subscribers know that when they scroll through its lineup they get short teasers of the content in question. If your cursor lands on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/glass-onion-knives-out-review\/\">Glass Onion<\/a>,\u201d for example, you\u2019ll get a short scene with co-star Dave Bautista firing a gun into the sky to the shock of his fellow guests.<\/p>\n<p>When subscribers let their cursor hover on the rectangular tile for \u201cCheeseburger,\u201d here\u2019s what they get.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was shocked Trump lasted four years. Four years was wild to me. And nobody, you know, nobody,\u201d he says, his voice trailing off as the audience begins to titter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody?\u201d he asks while making a gun-like gesture with his hand and making the sound of a gun going off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot once?\u00a0I\u2019m not advocating for killing a president, but we used to try,\u201d he adds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Santino\u2019s bit is clearly in the realm of comedy, and therefore deserves a vigorous defense. It\u2019s also different than what <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2017\/film\/news\/johnny-depp-trump-assassination-apology-1202477242\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Johnny Depp infamously said<\/a> at the Glastonbury Festival in 2017 about President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen was the last time an actor assassinated a president? I want to qualify, I am not an actor. I lie for a living \u2026 however, it has been a while and maybe it is time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Depp later apologized, alleging the comments were said in jest.<\/p>\n<p>Other celebrities have also wished death on Trump in a serious fashion, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/celebrities-wished-trump-dead\/\">Charlie Sheen and Joss Whedon.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s still a curious way to promote Santino\u2019s special. For starters, the comedian isn\u2019t a far-Left type a la Marc Maron, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/stephen-colbert-gutfeld-ratings-insurrection-trump\/\">Stephen Colbert<\/a> or Margaret Cho. He\u2019s no conservative, but his approach is more measured and able to attract a wider audience.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, the snippet might scare off liberal subscribers exhausted by Trump Derangement gags at this point.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/celebrities-president-trump-broke-2017\/\"><strong>RELATED: TRUMP BROKE THESE STARS [UPDATED]<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Netflix deserves plenty of credit for standing up for free speech in recent months. The streamer stood by Dave Chappelle after a relentless Cancel Culture attack for telling jokes deemed \u201canti-trans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The streamer also produced irreverent specials from Bill Burr, Tim Dillon and Ricky Gervais.
