It\u2019s hard because it\u2019s not business anymore, they\u2019re doing it in a personal way. And for the first time in my professional career, attacks are now personal. They\u2019re trying to demonize the issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reference to critics\u2019 attempts to \u201cdemonize\u201d Elon Musk died days before the ESG movement was born. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musk-the-s-in-esg-stands-for-satanic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quipped<\/a> Social media: \u201cthe S in ESG stands for Satanic.\u201d The billionaire entrepreneur who was once called the philosophy a \u201cscam\u201d That has been. \u201cweaponized by phony social justice warriors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fink traveled to Switzerland during the conference days following his company&#8217;s acquisition. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/blackrock-introduces-first-mass-layoff-in-years-after-losing-1-5-trillion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> Following a $1.5 billion loss in assets, BlackRock plans to lay off hundreds of employees. BlackRock has been subject to a lot of criticism from ESG opponents who claim that the investment philosophy undermines profit maximization for left-leaning causes like climate change and racial equality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s be clear, the narrative is ugly, the narrative is creating this huge polarization,\u201d Fink continued. \u201cWe are doing everything we can to change the narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republican treasurers are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/states-have-pulled-nearly-12-billion-from-blackrock-this-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pulled<\/a> BlackRock took in $12 billion over the past 12 months, citing unnecessary risk to investments and vendettas with fossil fuel sector companies. These divestments are a small fraction of the $8 trillion that BlackRock manages, but they reflect wider market hesitancy towards ESG funds after a year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/virtue-signaling-isnt-free-how-woke-investing-fell-apart-once-the-economy-got-bad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lackluster<\/a> stock market performance.<\/p>\n<p>Fink was one of hundreds of corporate leaders that attended the World Economic Forum. Fink is a proponent of greater cooperation between private and public actors in order to implement policy agendas. Fink spoke about the philosophy during a speech. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/events\/world-economic-forum-annual-meeting-2023\/sessions\/relaunching-trade-growth-and-investment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">panel<\/a> The future of global commerce<\/p>\n<p>Fink argued that private companies should take on the role of combating climate change through investments, just as policymakers deal with an increase in national debt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe there\u2019s a greater need for governments to be working with the private sector, especially in the areas of infrastructure and decarbonization, because on the back of less fiscal flexibility, the need for private capital is greater than ever before,\u201d He said so. \u201cAnd the private capital is there, as long as they believe over the horizon of the investment the returns can be achieved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>World Economic Forum President B\u00f8rge Brende, the host of the panel, lauded the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act as two measures advanced by the Biden administration to bankroll renewable energy initiatives.
