This could be because of potential challengers including Virginia Governor. Morning Consult polls Glenn Youngkin (R) at either one or zero percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">The survey <a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2024-gop-primary-election-tracker\/\"><span>found<\/span><\/a> Trump leads his potential challengers by a large margin. Nearly half of potential GOP voters, 48 percent, choose Trump for their nominee.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p3\">Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, R. comes in second with 31 percent support.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Mike Pence, former Vice President, is third with 8 percent support. The rest of the potential challengers are listed at three percent or less.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Former Rep. Liz Cheney, an Anti-Trumper, received just three percent support. She was followed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R. Texas), and former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, who each garnered two percent support.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p3\">Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R), and South Dakota Governor. Kristi Noem (R), former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (R-USA) and Sen. Tim Scott(R-SC) received one percent each.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Virginia Gov. Governor of Virginia Glenn Youngkin (R), received zero percent support. On December 18, Trump was supported by 48 percent. DeSantis&#8217; support has declined from 33 percent over the same time. Nevertheless, DeSantis still stands as the favorite second choice of Trump supporters \u2014 44 percent chose him. DeSantis supporters voted for Trump as second choice by 37 percent.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">A head to head matchup revealed that Trump led Biden by three points. Six percent of respondents remained undecided, and eleven percent chose another candidate.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p3\">The same survey however shows that Biden leads DeSantis by 3 percent in a head-to-head matchup. Seven percent voted for someone else, and eight percent remained undecided.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Trump continues to boast a strong favorable rating among potential Republican primary voters \u2014 77 percent view him favorably, while 69 percent said the same of DeSantis. Youngkin, polled at zero percent in the hypothetical primary, only 29 percent viewed him favorably. 37% of those polled said they had never heard of Youngkin.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Morning Consult surveyed 3,763 potential Republican primary voters between January 14-16, 2022. It has a +\/\u2013 2 percent margin of error.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Trump is the only Republican who has officially entered the race. However, that hasn&#8217;t stopped him from targeting potential rivals early on. DeSantis has been his focus, although he has not yet indicated whether he will run against Trump. However, he has previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/09\/08\/gov-ron-desantis-dispels-2024-rumors-its-purely-manufactured\/\"><span>denied<\/span><\/a> This speculation is \u201cpurely manufactured.\u201d But Trump&#8217;s failure to explicitly state that he will not be running for president has caused tension, even though DeSantis has been clear. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/11\/16\/ron-desantis-rumored-civil-war-trump-people-just-need-chill\/\"><span>dismissed<\/span><\/a> Reports of a \u201cCivil War\u201d Trump between him and himself, but he has not criticized the former president.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">\u201cSo, now I hear he might want to run against me. So, we\u2019ll handle that the way I handle things,\u201d Trump recently <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RonFilipkowski\/status\/1615109922403885067\"><span>said<\/span><\/a>, taking credit for helping DeSantis get elected against Democrat Andrew Gillum in 2018. DeSantis is notable <span>It is very narrow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/11\/09\/blowout-ron-desantis-defeated-crist-over-1-5-million-votes\/\">defeated<\/a><\/span> That year, the Democrat won by less than 33,000 votes.
