The company planned to build on Berry Hill, a 3,500-acre property owned by the county. Virginia has been developing and marketing the site for industrial purposes since before the Republican governor ended the deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe felt that the right thing to do was to not recruit Ford as a front for China to America,\u201d Youngkin spoke out last week, after he delivered his State of the Commonwealth speech before the General Assembly. Youngkin made the announcement for the first time.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Youngkin supports communist China, Whitmer stands for it \u201cvying\u201d For the business.<\/p>\n<p>Whitmer does not understand economic development. Youngkin has not yet indicated that he will seek a White House bid in 2024. However, his dramatic 2021 victory in the Key Blue State attracted national attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo deny [people in the community] jobs because you\u2019re in last place in Republican presidential primaries [is] gubernatorial malpractice,\u201d Senator Scott Surovell, D-Fairfax <a href=\"https:\/\/richmond.com\/news\/state-and-regional\/govt-and-politics\/ford-plant-halted-by-youngkin-would-have-created-2-500-jobs-in-southside\/article_9edc230a-95dc-11ed-bdd8-2301b6df2e06.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told the Richmond Times-Dispatch<\/a>. \u201cI mean, this is clearly just obvious to me that the governor\u2019s in some kind of out-China-bashing-contest with [Florida Gov. Ron] DeSantis and Governor Greg Abbott out of Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Youngkin spokeswoman Macaulay Porter said Ford\u2019s partner is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, and was therefore not welcome in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile Ford is an iconic American company, it became clear that this proposal would serve as a front for the Chinese Communist party, which could compromise our economic security and Virginians\u2019 personal privacy,\u201d Youngkin spokeswoman Macaulay Porter <a href=\"https:\/\/richmond.com\/news\/state-and-regional\/govt-and-politics\/ford-plant-halted-by-youngkin-would-have-created-2-500-jobs-in-southside\/article_9edc230a-95dc-11ed-bdd8-2301b6df2e06.html\">told the Richmond Times-Dispatch<\/a>. \u201cVirginians can be confident that companies with known ties to the Chinese Communist Party won\u2019t receive a leg up from the Commonwealth\u2019s economic incentive packages.
