The cause of the crash is still unclear, according to the nation\u2019s aviation authorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts are with the families of those on board,\u201d Ned Price is the State Department&#8217;s spokesperson.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/nepal-plane-crash-2-americans-2-lawful-permanent-residents-killed-himalayas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cThe United States stands ready to support Nepal in any way we can at this difficult hour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>72 people were on board the ATR 72-500 aircraft, and all of them died when it crashed. <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nepal-france-kathmandu-accidents-8d09c2360dddcf135136f008b4cf303e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">down<\/a> It is located in a 1,000-foot-deep canyon. Pokhara Airport, the flight\u2019s intended destination, opened earlier this month. However the black box will then be sent to France to be examined.<\/p>\n<p>A graphic video of the flight shows a passenger who reportedly live-streamed the events via Facebook. The video captured the moment the plane went down and ended with smoke and flames taking over the frame. According to the AP there has been a history of plane crashes in Nepal, including 42 deaths since 1946.
