They found that Davos airports had a large number of departures and arrivals. This included countries like France and Germany.<\/p>\n<p>The research concluded that private jet travel in the WEF \u201cGreat Reset\u2019 event in 2021 produced carbon emissions equivalent to those caused in one week by 350,000 cars.<\/p>\n<p>Davos was a week long event in which private jet emissions quadrupled compared with weeks before and afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven that 80% of the world\u2019s population has never even flown, but suffers from the consequences of climate-damaging aviation emissions,\u201d Schenk continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis annual private jet bonanza is a distasteful masterclass in hypocrisy. Private jets must be consigned to history if we are to have a green, just, and safe future for all. It\u2019s about time our political leaders start to lead by example instead of producing hot air in secret meetings with big business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The WEF\u2019s theme for 2023 is \u201cCooperation in a Fragmented World,\u201d This includes \u201chow we can tackle the numerous and interlinked challenges the world is facing and find solutions through public-private cooperation,\u201d the organization\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2023\/01\/davos-2023-day-1-what-to-expect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>Klaus Schwab stated that in his opening remarks: \u201cinvesting into a greener and therefore more sustainable economy\u201d This is the primary objective of conference attendees.<\/p>\n<p>European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/press\/2023\/01\/ec-president-von-der-leyen-outlines-vision-for-strong-united-europe-in-face-of-war-and-climate-perils\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confirmed<\/a> During her remarks, she stated that policymakers would do their best to \u201creach net zero\u201d Carbon emissions<\/p>\n<p>Member states of the European Union which rely on fossil fuel production to combat climate change, were forced to scramble for new power supplies after the Nord Stream pipeline attack and Russia\u2019s severing reserves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One prominent climate group is suing the World Economic Forum over its hypocrisy in allowing private jets to transport attendees into Davos.
