He was sentenced by a juror to second-degree manslaughter, second-degree unintentional, and third-degree murder charges. Chauvin\u2019s attorney, William Mohrman, told the court that his client\u2019s trial should not have been held in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur primary argument here is that this case could not be tried in Minneapolis because of the pretrial publicity which was pervasive \u2026 and also just the physical pressure on the courthouse,\u201d Mohrman stated that according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/01\/18\/1149726017\/derek-chauvin-appeal-murder-george-floyd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NPR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>This is a breaking story.
