While media run cover for Biden \u2014 and their own double standard \u2014 there are still at least nine important and outstanding questions that the White House should but likely won\u2019t answer about \u201cgarage gate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> 1. Why Were the Documents in Biden\u2019s Possession? <\/p>\n<p>The White House claims Biden didn\u2019t know about the documents and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/01\/10\/politics\/classified-documents-joe-biden\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201csurprised\u201d<\/a> They were found in his Washington, D.C., Office at the Penn Biden Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was briefed about this discovery and surprised to learn that there were any government records that were taken there to that office. But I don\u2019t know what\u2019s in the documents. My lawyers have not suggested I ask what documents they were,\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/3807886-biden-says-he-doesnt-know-what-documents-were-found-in-private-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> at the North American Leaders\u2019 Summit in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the House Intelligence Committee however reject this claim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor those who think that well, the president didn\u2019t realize that he had those in his possession. It just is nonsense. Of course he knew that he had them. They\u2019re so obvious,\u201d Republican Rep. Chris Stewart made the following statements <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/nonsense-biden-didnt-know-had-174836568.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cFace The Nation.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p> 2. Why Were Biden\u2019s Lawyers Poking Around? <\/p>\n<p>The official reasoning given to justify Biden\u2019s lawyers\u2019 snooping was that the legal team was \u201cclosing out\u201d He was visiting the Penn Biden Center in Washington D.C. when he stumbled upon the documents. Reports indicate that the first batch of classified materials were discovered in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/now\/potentially-classified-files-found-biden-012110196.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">manila folder labeled \u201cpersonal.\u201d<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>That discovery reportedly prompted the Democrat\u2019s lawyers to extend their search and review, which is how they found other records in Biden\u2019s Delaware garage near his Corvette and in his home.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s still unclear why Biden\u2019s personal attorneys were tasked with clearing out his old office in the first place.<\/p>\n<p> 3. Why Did Biden\u2019s Lawyers, the DOJ, and the National Archives Keep the Documents Quiet for Months?  <\/p>\n<p>Karine Jean-Pierre, White House Press Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ny1.com\/nyc\/all-boroughs\/politics\/2023\/01\/12\/source--biden-team-finds-more-docs-with-classified-markings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Notification was sent to the National Archives and Department of Justice \u201cthe minute that his lawyers found those documents,\u201d but the same can\u2019t be said for the public.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s lawyers found the documents in his Penn office mere days before the 2022 midterm elections. In December, they found more records at his house.
