That is, when we are struck, we strike in response.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Putin made a terrifying statement in mid-September <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/livecoverage\/putin-russia-ukraine-war\/card\/what-did-putin-say-today--5rIxBBdt5oRNjCDoWzvS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>, saying, \u201cRussia will use all the instruments at its disposal to counter a threat against its territorial integrity\u2014this is not a bluff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Researchers at the University of Nicosia (Cyprus) used computer modeling in order to simulate a nuclear explosion of an 750 kT nuclear warhead. <a href=\"https:\/\/aip.scitation.org\/doi\/10.1063\/5.0132565\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>, \u201cObviously, near the nuclear bomb detonation, the devastation would be widespread, and the fatality rate would be practically 100%. However, outside of the severe damage zone (SDZ), the effect of the blast reduces and survivability increases.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe force hitting a standing person indoors is equivalent to several\u00a0<em>g<\/em>-forces of body mass acceleration and could lift a person off the ground and throw them to the walls,\u201d According to the study.<\/p>\n<p>People should not leave a concrete building in the event of a nuclear attack. If they are in a corridor, they should hide in the corner. \u201cThe supersonic shock waves arising from the blast undergo expansion as they enter a room through an opening leading to channeling effects. The results show that most of the air is directed toward the corridor rather than through the opposite room\u2019s door, leading to high airspeed developed in rooms further down the aisle,\u201d Researchers <a href=\"https:\/\/aip.scitation.org\/doi\/10.1063\/5.0132565\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">note<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf people see the explosion from far away they have to take shelter ASAP,\u201d Dimitris Drikakis, author, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-11643911\/How-survive-nuclear-explosion-Scientists-reveal-safest-places-shelter.html\">The Daily Mail<\/a>.
