She was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/daniella-leis-car-crash-ovations-lawsuit-b2263845.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly<\/a>\u00a0Driving in the wrong direction on a street. The car she was driving crashed into a house, causing a gas line to burst and causing an explosion that destroyed four houses and injured seven others. The first responders were among the people who sustained injuries. Two police officers and two firefighters were both injured. One of the firefighters had to stay in hospital for more than a week before being able to return home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The entire neighborhood was evacuated, and all water and gas utilities were cut off in the area. The cost to repair the damage done to homes was between $9.8 million-$14.7 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe financial impact of Ms. Leis\u2019 actions have been enormous, with a total damage estimate approaching $15 million,\u201d According to court records, Judge George Orsini said so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">After the incident, Leis pleaded guilty, in 2020 to four counts of impaired driving. She was sentenced to three-years in prison in 2021. Shawn Leis, her dad, brought a lawsuit against the company that sold her alcohol.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ovations Ontario Food Services was sued. The business was also liable for the explosion. Leis was kicked from the site by workers, who failed to take any steps to ensure that she wouldn&#8217;t drive a vehicle home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The claim statement reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/london\/woman-convicted-in-woodman-ave-explosion-sues-food-and-beverage-company-1.6715421\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a> that the business also didn\u2019t look into her \u201cintended mode of transportation as she existed [sic] Budweiser Gardens when they knew or ought to have known that she was or appealed [sic] to be intoxicated and\/or impaired.\u201d The group also stated that they did not have adequate bouncers and didn&#8217;t keep track of how drunk people were leaving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Leis claimed that Leis was given alcohol by her group even though they knew she was under the influence. She also stated that Leis had been working for the company and their workers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/london\/woman-convicted-in-woodman-ave-explosion-sues-food-and-beverage-company-1.6715421\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gave<\/a> She has the substance \u201cwhen they knew or ought to have known that she was intoxicated or would become intoxicated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Leis claimed that they prioritized \u201cprofit above safety\u201d The resulting harm was \u201ccaused or contributed to by the negligence, breach of duty, breach of contract\u201d By the company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It was noted that Leis and her father must pay any money if they want to be able to support themselves financially. \u201centitled to contribution and indemnity from the defendant (Ovation).\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Canadian woman is suing a food and beverage business after she became so intoxicated that she ended up causing $10 million in harm to a slew of houses.
