The person also no longer needs to be diagnosed by a doctor. \u201cfor two years in their acquired gender.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Jack claimed he was creating an ordering system \u201cunder section 35 of the Scotland Act 1998 preventing the Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill from proceeding to Royal Assent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He claimed that the government \u201cbelieves however that transgender people deserve our respect, our support and our understanding,\u201d But he made the decision to place the order \u201cis centred [sic] on the legislation\u2019s consequences for the operation of reserved matters, including equality legislation across Scotland, England and Wales.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Scottish government proposed the new guidelines. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/01\/16\/europe\/scottish-gender-law-uk-constitution-intl-gbr\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>, \u201cWe think that trans people should not have to go through a process that can be demeaning, intrusive, distressing and stressful in order to be legally recognized in their lived gender.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Jack said that Jack would support the bill. \u201chave a serious adverse impact, among other things, on the operation of the Equality Act 2010.\u201d He said that the negative aspects of single-sex clubs, schools and groups, as well as safeguards such as equal pay, are some of the most problematic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He stated that the government is concerned about the potential impact of the legislation on girls and women as well as other organizations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Scotland\u2019s first minister Nicola Sturgeon has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2023\/jan\/16\/rishi-sunak-blocks-scotlands-gender-recognition-legislation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a> There were \u201cno grounds\u201d for the U.K. government to not allow it to go through, making the argument that it didn\u2019t impact the Equality Act.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Sturgeon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-64264063\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> Jack was doing a BBC \u201cprofound mistake\u201d He claimed that he was starting a new business.\u00a0\u201cdirect attack on the institution of the Scottish Parliament.\u201d Sturgeon observed that this would \u201cinevitably end up in court\u201d That the government of Scotland would \u201cvigorously defend this legislation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIn doing so we will be vigorously defending something else, and that is the institution of the Scottish Parliament and the ability of MSPs, democratically elected, to legislate in areas of our competence,\u201d Sturgeon stated. \u201cIn short, we\u2019ll be defending Scottish democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The U.K. government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-64264063\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not<\/a> Since 1999, when the Scottish Parliament was founded, this has been a step that I have never taken before.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United Kingdom has taken action to stop a Scottish measure from being implemented that would determine how people officially alter their designated gender in Scotland.
