Pritzker (D.). \/ Getty Images    <\/p>\n<p>A coalition of Illinois gun rights groups are challenging the extensive ban on assault weapons by J.B. Pritzker, the Democratic governor. This ban includes AR-15s and some pistols.<\/p>\n<p>The Illinois Gun Rights Alliance announced Tuesday that it had retained attorneys specializing in firearm law for the challenge to Pritzker\u2019s broad legislation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This new law is divisive, unenforceable, and offers dubious efficacy as a crime-fighting tool,&#8221; Mandi Sao, spokesperson for the group said that the ban was a &#8220;restrictive measure&#8221;. &#8220;dangerous infringement on the rights of the lawful citizen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This group&#8217;s legal challenge is the latest in a series of protests against the &#8220;Protect Illinois Communities Act,&#8221; This bans certain shotguns, pistols and rifles from being sold or distributed. &#8220;high-capacity magazines&#8221; And &#8220;switches&#8221; That can make handguns automated.\u00a085 out of the state&#8217;s total 102 county sheriffs have stated that they won&#8217;t enforce the law.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois was the ninth state to ban assault weapons. Bruen, pointing out that modern attitudes toward guns are not grounds to limit a constitutional right.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois residents who are owners of the banned substance &#8220;weapons of war&#8221; You must register them with the police by January 1, 2024 or they will face a Class 2 felony.
