Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) took a strong stance on gun rights at this year\u2019s CPAC event. During her panel Saturday, the freshman representative said the left needs to stop their attacks on the Second Amendment and criticized the implementation of metal detectors at the Capitol building.<\/p>\n<p>She also stated the moves made by the left are all about wanting to control everyone\u2019s lives. During her remarks, Boebert highlighted all of the rights that Democrats try to take control of, including free speech.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepublicans are called the \u2018party of no,\u2019 but we\u2019re saying no to all of their \u2018no\u2019s,&#8217;\u201d Boebert noted. \u201cThey don\u2019t want you to be able to protect yourself. They don\u2019t want you to have freedom of speech. They don\u2019t want you to have freedom of religion. In Colorado, they don\u2019t want us to have our public lands. They are the party of no. Andy Biggs (R) also sat in on that panel to discuss the left\u2019s attacks on the Second Amendment. He talked about Democrats\u2019 broad and sweeping definitions of \u201csuspected terrorists,\u201d which Biggs\u2019 said they tried to present in new legislation as a way to take weapons away from law-abiding citizens.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Appreciate the opportunity to speak at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CPAC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CPAC<\/a> to talk about how House Republicans are standing for our SECOND AMENDMENT. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JzGgvrfloB\">pic.twitter.com\/JzGgvrfloB<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andy Biggs (@andybiggs4az) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/andybiggs4az\/status\/1365772502501363717?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 27, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe had committee hearings this week where they basically defined anybody who voted for Donald Trump as a domestic terrorist,\u201d Biggs stated. \u201cSo what are we? Are we all suspected terrorists because there is a mindset in the authoritarian left? So, it\u2019s a misnomer when they say they\u2019re going to protect due process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said you cannot protect due process if you put someone on a list and call them a suspected terrorist without any reasonable suspicion or probable cause, adding this is a violation of Americans\u2019 constitutional rights. The panel also spoke about gun hobbyists who make their own weapons and whether the Alcohol Tobacco &amp; Firearms agency should have any authority over their rights to do so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat they\u2019re doing is creating law when there\u2019s no legislative authority,\u201d Biggs noted. \u201cThat\u2019s what the agency is doing. That\u2019s strike one right there. Number two: It\u2019s illegal activity that you\u2019re trying to impose your will, your bureaucratic will.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biggs added if the lawmakers really saw a threat or problem within the gun laws, they would be working to change them, but he said it is merely a manufactured crisis. The conservative leaders discussed the reported four-pronged assault on the Second Amendment orchestrated by the White House by so-called \u201cghost guns,\u201d magazine capacity, suing manufacturers as well as a full ban on semi-automatic firearms by conflating them with the term \u201cassault weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biggs said the way to protect the Second Amendment and to oppose these sweeping gun laws is by Republicans standing up to make their voices heard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve gotta make sure our colleagues in the Senate are there, because they have enough votes to stop that in the Senate,\u201d Biggs said. \u201cSo we have to rely on the state\u2019s raising their voices, the governor\u2019s raising their voices, and we need this body.
