This announcement is made despite the fact that Mermaids currently has a low rating. <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/uk-trans-advocacy-group-mermaids-under-investigation-by-charity-commission\">formal investigation<\/a> Due to serious safeguarding claims made last year, the Charity Commission has been informed.<\/p>\n<p>These allegations also include Mermaids staff members who are secretly involved in the investigation. <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/trans-charity-gives-breast-binders-to-children-while-admitting-it-is-not-a-medical-group\">sending dangerous chest compression devices<\/a> to teenage girls who identify as boys, even while knowing that this was against parents\u2019 wishes. Chat forum moderators have been accused of encouraging their children to use cross-sex hormones as well as puberty inhibitors.<\/p>\n<p>There was then <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/board-member-of-trans-rights-org-mermaids-resigns-after-giving-speech-to-pedophile-advocacy-group\">the revelation<\/a> A member of the Mermaids board had delivered a speech at a conference hosted by a group that advocates for pedophile acceptance. This indicates serious failures in its screening process.<\/p>\n<p>SLaM claims that Mermaids were not invited to train staff in the new gender identification clinic. Instead, it states that this training is part an \u201cLGBT+ awareness\u201d program.<\/p>\n<p>One of many new clinics will be built. <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/8000-minors-on-waiting-list-sex-change-treatment-in-uk-as-referrals-continue-to-surge\">regional centers<\/a> To better address the complex mental health issues of transgender children and their families, centers have been established. The new centers are to be set up after an independent review of England\u2019s Tavistock gender clinic found it was <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/tavistock-gender-identity-clinic-not-safe-for-children-nhs-report\">not a safe or viable option<\/a> For this vulnerable patient population.<\/p>\n<p>Experts are concerned about the involvement of trans activists in the establishment of regional centers.<\/p>\n<p>Sue Evans, an ex-clinician at the Tavistock was the first whistleblower in 2005 to raise concerns about the service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy experience was that groups like Mermaids exerted pressure on the clinical service which was not always helpful in terms of thinking about patients holistically,\u201d Evans said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2023\/01\/13\/nhs-trust-trans-care-tavistock-mermaids\">The Telegraph<\/a>. \u201cGiven that Hilary Cass has asked for care to be evidence-based and holistic, I have serious concerns about Mermaids providing training to staff at SLaM.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have not seen their current training materials yet, but based on past experience I would be concerned that they would be promoting an affirmation-only model which lacks an evidence base and does not take into account the complexities of children\u2019s needs and backgrounds. The Mermaids teaching materials that I have seen were inaccurate and misleading,\u201d Evans continued.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/experts-we-must-defeat-gender-ideology-and-protect-children\">affirmation model<\/a> This is the care model that is preferred by Canadian and American gender clinics. <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/sweden-cuts-ties-with-leading-trans-health-group-over-guidelines-for-child-sex-changes\">rapidly falling out of favor<\/a> The model is applicable worldwide. The model requires that a child\u2019s transgender identity be immediately affirmed and any exploration or attempt to help the child overcome their distress is forbidden, and in <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/exclusive-lead-counsel-for-bc-nurses-college-in-trial-of-amy-hamm-claims-telling-trans-kids-they-are-their-natal-sex-is-illegal-conversion-therapy?utm_campaign=64466\">Canada would be considered conversion therapy<\/a>. Gender-affirming doctors fast-track children onto <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/puberty-blockers-revealed-to-be-dangerous-for-minors-study\">experimental puberty blockers<\/a> Even though there is no evidence of good quality to support this protocol.<\/p>\n<p>The Telegraph also interviewed Dr Marcus Evans as a consultant psychotherapist. He was an early whistleblower about Tavistock. \u201cThere are a lot of parents who are already worried after Tavistock said it would be involved in advising the new service providers, and now Mermaids is offering training as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe old service system is discredited.
