And I think the DOJ is in a very strong position to resist on those grounds,\u201d McCabe said Friday on CNN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho knows what comes of that resistance?\u201d he added. \u201cMaybe DOJ leadership starts getting subpoenaed. And ultimately, that fight will end up in the courts. And that could drag things out. That\u2019It will be an additional distraction for DOJ. But it shouldn\u2019t disrupt the actual conduct of the investigation. So, that\u2019s a \u2014 it\u2019ll be a separate but related set of stressors that DOJ has to deal with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After a turbulent end to his long career at the FBI, McCabe was hired by CNN as a law enforcement analyst.<\/p>\n<p>McCabe was fired from his position as Attorney General by Jeff Sessions, citing an Inspector General Report that stated McCabe had been terminated. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/inspector-general-fbi-deputy-director-andrew-mccabe-lacked-candor-three-times-under-oath\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McCabe \u201clacked candor\u201d<\/a> When discussing disclosure of information to The Wall Street Journal regarding an FBI investigation into Clinton Foundation, we met with investigators.<\/p>\n<p>McCabe recommended McCabe&#8217;s recommendation regarding the Biden documents inquiry, after stating that there was no such inquiry. <a href=\"https:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/show\/acd\/date\/2023-01-13\/segment\/02\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201ca lot of concern\u201d<\/a> The duration of the probe. He noted Biden\u2019s attorneys have stressed the president is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/classified-documents-found-in-bidens-private-office-contained-top-secret-material-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cooperating with authorities,<\/a> McCabe stated that the whole effort would take just a few months. Trump has been openly hostile towards a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/special-counsel-jack-smith-returns-to-united-states-to-lead-investigations-into-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">separate DOJ inquiry<\/a> In his handling of documents.<\/p>\n<p>Merrick Garland, Attorney General, announced Thursday that he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/merrick-garland-appoints-special-counsel-to-investigate-biden-classified-document-scandal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appointed<\/a> Robert Hur, former U.S. AG, has been appointed special counsel to investigate Biden in connection with classified documents that were found in his Washington, D.C. office and at his Wilmington, Delaware, home. The documents date back to Biden\u2019s time as vice president. The first batch of documents was discovered in November, just days before the 2022 midterm elections. However, it wasn&#8217;t made public until last week.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Jim Jordan (R.OH) is the current leader of the House Judiciary Committee. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/house-judiciary-committee-launches-investigation-into-biden-documents-scandal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sent a letter<\/a> Friday to Garland seeking documents and communications about Biden\u2019s \u201cmishandling of classified documents, including the apparently unauthorized possession of classified material.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the demands by the panel was for documents and communications regarding Hur&#8217;s appointment. \u201cThe circumstances of this appointment raise fundamental oversight questions that the Committee routinely examines,\u201d The letter states.<\/p>\n<p>Some Republicans, including ex-Rep. Devin Nunes (R\u2013CA), are <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/like-a-fixer-for-the-democrats-nunes-worries-biden-special-counsel-may-be-biased\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">raising concerns about Hur because of his role in drafting<\/a> A Justice Department letter addressed to the House Intelligence Committee Republicans, urging them to not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/read-devin-nunes-shares-point-by-point-refutation-of-democratic-memo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">release a memo<\/a> Surveillance abuses in Trump-Russia Investigation &#8211; claims that disclosure could cause harm to national security<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHur looks like a fixer for the Democrats and the Deep State,\u201d Nunes <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/like-a-fixer-for-the-democrats-nunes-worries-biden-special-counsel-may-be-biased\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told The Washington Free Beacon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>McCabe claimed his firing in 2018 was a means for the Trump administration to tarnish then-special counsel Robert Mueller\u2019s investigation. McCabe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice-department-pursuit-andrew-mccabe-john-durham\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">played an integral role<\/a> in the FBI\u2019s inquiry into alleged links between former President Donald Trump\u2019s 2016 campaign and Russia, which was later wrapped into Mueller\u2019s endeavor.
