The bill does NOT define white supremacy. However, the bill does include some additional information. \u201cwhite supremacy based motivation against any person\u201d Existing statutes have already established penalties for crimes against another person. \u201crace, color, religion, or national origin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill defines \u201cconspiracy to engage in white supremacy inspired hate crime\u201d As an activity \u201cbetween two or more persons engaged in the planning, development, preparation, or perpetration of a white supremacy inspired hate crime.\u201d The conspirators must all have published material in advance by at least one of them. \u201cwhite supremacist ideology,\u201d \u201creplacement theory,\u201d Any other \u201chate speech\u201d directed at non-white groups via social media or other platforms, where the content could also be \u201cviewed by persons who are predisposed to engaging in any action in furtherance of a white supremacy inspired hate crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lee <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jacksonleetx18\/status\/1614898541935083520?s=46&#038;t=nmw6FkSXxXLIo_svsr87Kw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cited<\/a> Christopher Wray, FBI Director of Investigations, gave testimony. He stated that \u201cwhite supremacy\u201d It is a \u201cmajor domestic terrorist threat\u201d During a social media conversation with Rep. Lauren Boebert, (R-CO), about the legislation. Indeed, Wray <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/news\/testimony\/threats-to-the-homeland-evaluating-the-landscape-20-years-after-911-wray-092121\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> Extremists who murdered lawmakers in the past two years were already known to lawmakers. \u201cadvocate for the superiority of the white race\u201d They were the main source of lethal attacks by violent domestic extremists in 2018 &#038; 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Whistleblowers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/former-fbi-official-to-address-whistleblower-claims-alleging-agency-inflated-domestic-terrorism-numbers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">detailed<\/a> There was pressure within the law enforcement agency for cases to be reclassified as \u201cdomestic violent extremism\u201d When the circumstances are not justifiable. A <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/legacy_files\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/2022-07-27-JDJ-to-Wray-re-domestic-violent-extremists32.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> sent to Wray last year by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) asserted that the FBI\u2019s decision to manipulate domestic violent extremist data \u201ccheapens actual examples of violent extremism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/06\/19\/fact-sheet-the-biden-harris-administration-advances-equity-and-opportunity-for-black-americans-and-communities-across-the-country\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ordered<\/a> Internal efforts to \u201croot out white supremacy and extremism\u201d Within agencies like the Department of Homeland Security. Left-wing activist groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center <a href=\"https:\/\/www.splcenter.org\/news\/2023\/01\/06\/jan-6-anniversary-two-years-later\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claim<\/a> Entities such as the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys have had success. \u201cinfused once-marginalized, white supremacist ideas into mainstream Republican discourse and politics with the goal of maintaining a grip on power and silencing communities of color.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lee, who has been a member of the House of Representatives almost three decades, supported a bill to launch a commission. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/house-judiciary-committee-to-vote-on-creating-slavery-reparations-commission-to-address-deep-seeded-racism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a> Slavery reparations were possible. Later, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/sitting-congresswoman-claims-that-reparations-could-have-slowed-the-spread-of-covid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> That reparations are made for African-Americans \u201ccould have cut COVID-19 transmission and infection rates both among blacks and the population at large.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
