Shelia Jackson Lee<\/a>Long in the running to be the stupidest member of Congress (oops! did I just do a crime?)), has introduced legislation that could make political criticism by white people against minorities a federal crime.<\/p>\n<p>In what can only been described as a complicated mess, the bill proposes a white person be charged with a crime. \u201cvilifies\u201d Any non-white person who has their words published on social media. \u201cpersons who are predisposed to engaging in any action in furtherance of a white supremacy inspired hate crime,\u201d They would be committing a federal offense.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee introduced a House Bill that would criminalize \u201cconspiracy to commit white supremacy,\u201d This includes criticisms of non-white persons that influence (such as something published online or spoken publicly) someone who has committed a hate crime. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QD93bVJmA9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/t.co\/QD93bVJmA9<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ROwLtvYIha\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pic.twitter.com\/ROwLtvYIha<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ian Miles Cheong (@stillgray) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stillgray\/status\/1614748073326174210?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January 15, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This provision is so wide that you could drive a Mack truck right through it. What is the definition of a \u201cwhite supremacy-inspired hate crime\u201d This statute is applicable? What is the procedure? \u201creplacement theory\u201d defined? Because Democrats are referring to \u201creplacement theory\u201d It is not a replacement theory, but a reiteration that Democrat-admitted aims at using immigration to influence elections.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the use \u201cor\u201d Section (B) is crucial because it leaves \u201cvilifies\u201d as a stand-alone qualifier. What is the limiting principle in that case? If I post on social media that Shelia Jackson Lee is an incredibly ignorant, abusive person who has a long history of treating her staff like dirt, does that mean I\u2019ve \u201cvilified\u201d Is this the law that she should be subject to? It would be very obvious.<\/p>\n<p>Then there\u2019s the conspiracy angle to deal with. It doesn&#8217;t <em>Click here <\/em>that there\u2019s actually any requirement that the \u201ctwo or more persons\u201d The statute doesn&#8217;t allow them to have any real relationship. If someone commits an offense, \u201cwhite supremacy-inspired hate crime\u201d against a person and I\u2019ve likewise been politically criticizing that same person on social media, even justifiably, I would have now committed a federal crime myself.<\/p>\n<p>If it passed, this law would be used against valid criticisms of any non-white group or person (the Black Lives Matter organisation, for example), because critics could expose them to federal charges. It is obvious that this would be a violation of the First Amendment. However, it exposes Lee&#8217;s wild totalitarian drive and others who share her views.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s exactly why Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy should put it up for a vote.
