Version: 4.0.47-->\n<p>The House Oversight Committee&#8217;s new chair has made accusations against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-national-archives\">National Archives<\/a> and Records Administration (NARA) of stonewalling the GOP-led probe into President Joe Biden\u2019s handling of classified documents.<\/p>\n<p>In what is fast becoming a crisis of credibility for Biden, the White House said Saturday that another five pages of classified documents were found on Thursday at Biden\u2019s Delaware home, which is in addition to sensitive materials found in December in the president\u2019s garage and in November at his former offices at the Penn Biden Center in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Biden stated that he was \u201csurprised\u201d by the discovery of the documents and both he and his allies have insisted they\u2019ve cooperated with NARA and the Justice Department over the materials, while Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/house-republicans-demand-list-of-names-linked-to-biden-documents_4983414.html?utm_medium=desktop_news&#038;utm_source=ai_recommender&#038;utm_content=1\">have launched<\/a> A probe is made into the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-james-comer\">James Comer<\/a> (Republican of Kentucky), chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepJamesComer\/status\/1614813347475775488\">post on Twitter<\/a> Late Sunday, the National Archives did not provide an answer. \u201csimple briefing\u201d The committee will review its handling of classified documents following Comer&#8217;s request for information almost a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Archives isn\u2019t being transparent with the American people,\u201d Comer wrote the post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo many questions remain unanswered,\u201d He went on. \u201cI will use the power of the gavel to get answers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NARA did no immediate reply to The Epoch Times&#8217;s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>In his post, Comer also shared an interview he gave to Fox News on Sunday, in which he expounded on NARA\u2019s apparent stonewalling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe administration never told the American people, the National Archives never briefed me or the then-chairperson of the House Oversight Committee, as they\u2019re supposed to, when something like this happens,\u201d He spoke to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News interviewed Comer in an interview. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepJamesComer\/status\/1614290769514467331\">separate interview<\/a> NARA did not give a briefing on Saturday to the Oversight Committee \u201ceven though we\u2019ve requested one,\u201d But \u201cthey have\u00a0not answered any of our simple requests for information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It follows Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/comer-bidens-three-strikes-against-transparency-will-be-met-with-swift-congressional-oversight\/\">on Friday vowed<\/a> \u201cswift\u201d While Congress investigates the Biden classified documents fiasco, they also criticize NARA&#8217;s failure to act \u201cto promptly inform Congress and the American people about mishandled classified documents from Joe Biden\u2019s time as vice president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House faces mounting criticism for not disclosing the find of the Biden-linked documents until two months after their discovery on Nov. 2\u2014a week before the midterm elections\u2014and even then the Biden administration only publicly acknowledged the materials after media outlets broke the story.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4986579\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Joe-Biden-GettyImages-1246252368-e1673797481747-1200x797-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy size-large wp-image-4986579\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/themes\/eet\/images\/white.png\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Joe-Biden-GettyImages-1246252368-e1673797481747-1200x797-1.jpg\" alt=\"Joe Biden\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\"   style=\"display:none\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-4986579\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Joe-Biden-GettyImages-1246252368-e1673797481747-1200x797-1.jpg\" alt=\"Joe Biden\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" \/><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a> On Jan. 15, 2023, President Joe Biden boarded Air Force One at Delaware Air National Guard Base, New Castle, Del. (Brendan Smialowski\/AFP via Getty Images<\/figure>\n<h2>\u2018Political Bias\u2019?<\/h2>\n<p>In a Jan. 10 letter to\u00a0NARA\u2019s\u00a0Acting Archivist Debra Steidel Wall (<a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2023-01-10-Letter-NARA-Biden-classified-docs.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>Comer asked for a variety of documents and information regarding the Biden-linked materials. \u201cas soon as possible\u201d But not later than January 24.<\/p>\n<p>Comer requested all related documents and communications between NARA and the White House, among NARA employees, between NARA and the Department of Justice, and between NARA and any outside entities, including Biden\u2019s attorneys.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for NARA told The Epoch Times at the time that the agency had received Comer\u2019s letter but had no further comment.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter to Steidel, the Kentucky Republican also\u00a0raised the question of \u201cpolitical bias\u201d He described the incident as &#8220;a sham&#8221; and he was fired from the agency. \u201cinconsistent treatment of recovering classified records\u201d held by Biden and former President\u00a0Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNARA learned about these documents days before the 2022 midterm elections and did not alert the public that President Biden was potentially violating the law,\u201d He wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, NARA instigated a public and unprecedented FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago\u2014former President Trump\u2019s home\u2014to retrieve presidential records.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Comer also spoke out against this disparate treatment \u201craises questions about political bias at the agency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Comer also requested the documents described in his letter to Steidel. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/comer-tells-biden-to-release-visitor-logs-for-chief-executives-wilmington-delaware-home_4986525.html\">also demanded<\/a> The White House be required to turn over all information relating to its searches for documents that are classified Biden-linked.<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times has reached out to The White House for comment on the discovery of classified documents.<\/p>\n<p>From surfacing in a locked closet in a Washington think tank to being discovered in the president\u2019s garage where he keeps his classic Corvette, the classified documents have sparked public interest and drawn legal scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General Merrick Grland has appointed a special attorney to investigate the case.
