Chair of House Oversight Committee stated Sunday that Biden&#8217;s administration failed to fulfill its pledge of transparency. \u201cwe don\u2019t know exactly yet\u201d Whether President Joe Biden, or anyone on his staff has violated the law following the announcement by the White House that five additional classified documents had been found at his Delaware home.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing on CNN\u2019s State of The Union with host Jake Tapper, Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNN\/status\/1614635986994229255\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Accused<\/a> The president of hypocrisy noted that the Biden Administration pursued former President Donald Trump quickly when similar situations were revealed, but seemed to conceal his misconduct from public view for political reasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemember, they were quick to call for a special counsel prior to the midterm elections, and Joe Biden used as his closing argument during the midterm elections that Republicans were a threat to democracy, and he cited the fact that President Trump mishandled the documents,\u201d Tapper told Comer. \u201cWhile he was doing this, he knew very well that he himself had possession of classified documents. So, the hypocrisy here is great.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tapper: &#8220;Are you accusing President Biden or anyone on his team of breaking the law?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Comer: &#8220;Well, we don&#8217;t know exactly yet&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jaketapper?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@jaketapper<\/a> asks Rep. James Comer (R-KY) about a House Republican probe into Biden&#8217;s mishandling of classified docs. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNNSotu?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CNNSotu<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CNNSOTU?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#CNNSOTU<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KTIEo1q4cX\">pic.twitter.com\/KTIEo1q4cX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CNN (@CNN) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNN\/status\/1614635986994229255?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 15, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Comer went on to say that House Republicans are concerned about a lack of transparency from the administration, a pledge that former Press Secretary Jen Psaki <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/01\/21\/opinions\/biden-first-year-transparency-diakun\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made<\/a> on Biden\u2019s first day in office, promising to \u201cbring transparency and truth back to government.\u201d Comer claimed the variations in responses to Trump and Biden represent a \u201ctwo-tiered system of justice in America.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tapper attempted to explain Biden\u2019s lawyer\u2019s possible reason for sitting on the information, which was initially discovered on November 2, was to not impede a Department of Justice investigation in regard to witnesses. Comer said that argument was \u201chard to believe.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would consider the fact that it was right before a midterm election, a very important midterm election that was close, that was going to determine the balance of power in Congress, the fact that they had, that they were quick to call for a special counsel with Trump, it seems political here, it seems hypocritical, it seems like a double standard, and that\u2019s our concern,\u201d Comer said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Kentucky congressman explained that as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, he has jurisdiction over the National Archives, which he also accused of lacking transparency, adding that he is frustrated with the agency.
