Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NHL <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/nhl-backtracks-florida-gov-ron-desantis-office-blasts-league-discriminatory-job-fair\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claim<\/a> Fox News stated in a statement that the original posting&#8217;s wording was incorrect. \u201cnot accurate,\u201d Adding that the event \u201cis an informational and networking event designed to encourage all individuals to consider a career in our game \u2013 and, in particular, alert those who might not be familiar with hockey to the opportunities it offers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the league&#8217;s website, everyone can attend the event provided they are at least 18 and not under 18.<\/p>\n<p>The league\u2019s reversal came after Bryan Griffin, a spokesman for the governor, responded to the job fair in a statement, saying that this type of discriminatory job posting would not be tolerated in the state of Florida and that the league needs to \u201cimmediately remove and denounce the discriminatory prohibitions it has imposed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiscrimination of any sort is not welcome in the state of Florida, and we do not abide by the woke notion that discrimination should be overlooked if applied in a politically popular manner or against a politically unpopular demographic,\u201d DeSantis\u2019 office said in a statement. \u201cWe are fighting all discrimination in our schools and our workplaces, and we will fight it in publicly accessible places of meeting or activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe call upon the National Hockey League to immediately remove and denounce the discriminatory prohibitions it has imposed on attendance to the 2023 \u2018Pathway to Hockey\u2019 summit,\u201d The statement was continued.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Hockey League (NHL) reversed course late this week over a controversial job fair that was deemed \u201cdiscriminatory\u201d after Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis warned that it would not be tolerated in the state of Florida.
