Biden was an honorary professor at the University of Pennsylvania between 2017 and 2019, but he wasn&#8217;t vice president. He was also elected president.<\/p>\n<p>The United States has three security classification categories: secret, confidential, and top-secret. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/merrick-garland-appoints-special-counsel-to-investigate-biden-classified-document-scandal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appointed<\/a> former U.S. Attorney Robert Hur as special counsel to take over the inquiry started by U.S. Attorney John Lausch. House Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/house-judiciary-committee-launches-investigation-into-biden-documents-scandal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">also began investigations into the growing scandal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president, said Biden\u2019s personal attorneys were clearing out the office when they discovered the first tranche of documents on November 2, days before the midterm elections, and immediately notified the National Archives. The existence of the records were not known publicly until this week when media reports revealed the existence of a DOJ review.<\/p>\n<p>Since that revelation, the White House said lawyers for the president found a second batch of classified documents dating back to Biden\u2019s time as vice president at his home in Wilmington, Delaware. On Saturday, the White House announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-more-classified-material-found-at-property-owned-by-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more classified documents<\/a> were discovered at the residence than previously known.<\/p>\n<p>Sauber said one document was found in a room adjacent to the garage on Wednesday night, but lawyers stopped their search because they lacked security clearances.
