Brooks is listed as a writer and executive producer of the mini-series, but our first glimpse has little of Brooks\u2019 Borscht Belt snap or silliness.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, it\u2019s broad gags, aggressively diverse casting and a flash of woke.<\/p>\n<p>The names attached to this project made us fear the worst.<\/p>\n<p>Wanda Sykes is one of comedy\u2019s most progressive voices, and Ike Barinholtz flashed his woke bona fides with the 2018 flop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/the-oath-review-2018\/\">\u201cThe Oath.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The original film featured a murderer\u2019s row of funny folk, from Brooks and Madeline Kahn to Dom DeLuise, Harvey Norman and Cloris Leachman.\u00a0Skyes and Barinholtz, Nick Krolls, Sarah Silvermans, J.B. Smooves, Johnny Knoxville are just a few of the Hulu series.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/the-view-defends-comedy-blazing-saddles\/\"><strong>RELATED: SHOCK: \u2018THE VIEW\u2019 DEFENDS EDGY HUMANITY<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The teaser doesn\u2019t give us any fleshed-out bits, but we see a black Jesus figure and a black Alexander Graham Bell.<\/p>\n<p>That kind of forced diversity wasn\u2019t a part of the original film, but it\u2019s essential in the new Hollywood. It also shatters any sense that we\u2019re telling a story from the past.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/CnXQHF1gL5z\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>it\u2019s one thing for \u201cHamilton\u201d To make powerful points about America&#8217;s experiment and the flaws in the original United States, it is important to embrace a multiracial cast. It\u2019s different to force diversity in this way. It\u2019s a distraction, period.<\/p>\n<p>Is Brooks&#8217; magic going to make it into the final product? We\u2019ll have eight episodes to see it once more. Brooks hasn\u2019t made a feature film since 1995\u2019s \u201cDracula: Dead and Loving It\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dracula:_Dead_and_Loving_It\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">We are underwhelmed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s kept busy since then, bringing his classic films to the Great White Way (\u201cThe Producers,\u201d \u201cYoung Frankenstein\u201d) with massive success.<\/p>\n<p>Brooks would be willing to put his unbreakable legacy at risk for a woken world. \u201cPart II?\u201d He\u2019s been firm on the fact that his 1974 classic \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/mel-brooks-cancel-culture-blazing-saddles\/\">Blazing Saddles\u201d couldn\u2019t be made today<\/a> Cancel Culture, a big thanks!<\/p>\n<p>So far, it seems that the answer is: \u201cYes,\u201d but we\u2019ll have to watch and find out come March 6.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mel Brooks\u2019 \u201cHistory of the World Part I\u201d Its title alone contains a great joke.
