It reads: &#8220;Yet the NCAA implements and perpetuates a policy of allowing male athletes on women\u2019s teams, even as sports governing bodies and federal courts increasingly reject these unjust and inequitable policies that exclude young women from their own teams.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The demand letter, which threatened legal action against the NCAA if they did not respond to the demand was read out front of the NCAA convention in San Antonio Texas on Thursday. &#8220;protect female athletes from discrimination on the basis of sex.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/world-boxing-council-create-separate-transgender-league-2023-follows-birth-rule\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>WORLD BOXING CONCIL TO CREATE SEPARATE TRANSGENDER LEGUE IN 2023. \u2018AT BIRTH\u2019 RULE<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The NCAA cannot pick and choose which laws to follow,&#8221; The NCAA should require colleges to have single-sex locker rooms available for female athletes.<\/p>\n<p>Gaines, who competed against Lia Thomas last year \u2013 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/female-swimmer-tied-lia-thomas-slams-transgender-sports-policy-women-back-1970s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>first transgender athlete<\/u><\/a> to win a national title \u2013 also spoke on Thursday, calling for the NCAA to stop discriminating against female athletes.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE SPORTS COVERAGE AT FOXNEWS.COM<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today, we intend to personally tell the NCAA to stop discriminating against female athletes by handing them a petition that we have garnered nearly 10,000 signatures on in just a couple of days,&#8221; Gaines said Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The NCAA has updated its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/lia-thomas-olympic-aspirations-womens-advocacy-groups-silent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Transgender participation policy<\/u><\/a> last January to defer to the guidance of each sport\u2019s governing body.
